I don't think Collins or Heller are the lynchpin. Collins is probably in her last term and thinking about running for governor. She can easily vote against it and it doesn't sink the bill. Heller is running for re-election in a Hillary won state. He's in CYA mode on this. Itch can afford to lose these two.

Portman & Murkowski are the keys. If one of them goes, the entire thing collapses as once it looks doomed hard core righties are going to jump ship as well. Capito is in an interesting spot as well as 99% of West Virginia is on Medicaid or Medicare.

Somebody is trying hard on Murkowski because there have been tv and radio ads non-stop.

Murkowski seems to believe in Planned Parenthood. Also in an interview I heard her talking about some parts of Alaska where that is the only place woman can go for Health Care. If she changes her vote and that stays in the bill that will be interesting.

Alaska seems weird. I had always thought it had completely escaped the skull-f-cking stupidity of the Bible Belt and the Thumpers, but then Palin wandered in with her moronic combination Fundy cult / scam / MegChurch so obviously that crap has pockets even up there.

I thought it was Libertarian heaven, but she, her snowbilly family, and her ilk were every bit the Handmaids Tale fanboys as a Kansas trailer park.

Though it may simply be a disease carried by trailer parks. They're like that from Ontario, CA to Mecklenburg, NY. No wonder God sends tornadoes to try to wipe them out.

For the past three decades, Medicaid has helped pay for services and equipment that schools provide to special-education students, as well as school-based health screening and treatment for children from low-income families. Now, educators from rural red states to the blue coasts are warning that the GOP push to shrink Medicaid spending will strip schools of what a national superintendents association estimates at up to $4 billion per year.

That money pays for nurses, social workers, physical, occupational and speech therapists and medical equipment like walkers and wheelchairs. It also pays for preventive and comprehensive health services for poor children, including immunizations, screening for hearing and vision problems and management of chronic conditions like asthma and diabetes.

There are a couple of factors:

1. The military. Decades of having large military facilities has lead to a large influx of derpy white people, especially from the highly fundamentalist Christian Air Force.

2. The oil industry. Part B of the fundamentalist stew around here, full of largely white blue-collar workers from lovely places like Texas.

There are some mitigating factors like unions, a largely Democratic Alaska Native population, and educated liberals that keep things from going off the deep end but it's a losing battle.

Also, Palin is largely regarded as a joke up here and Wasilla is nuts.

I just can't get over how disappointed I am that no on has ideas on how to make things better. This country is all about "Can't" instead of "Can" and Turtle Boy and Ryan are the poster children of the "Can't" movement.

The funny thing is that they'd likely say the same about you. You're saying their plan CAN'T work, while they're saying that their plan can work, that it will fix health care.

I'm not saying they're right, but it's all in the frame of mind for those who're doing the work.

There is not one piece of evidence ANYWHERE that suggests their plan will do anything of the sort. Not a one.
