The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

This is somewhat awesome. If they don't pass it they look impotent. If they DO pass it, even better! Too many GOP reps get to cloak themselves with a "moderate" label ala Cryin' John Boner because they aren't certifiably insane. Support for this bill is going to put an end to that. Bottom line is, massive tax cut for the 1% paid for by a repeal of the Medicaid expansion! What's not to love? :D

Untie Rover and give him back his keyboard, Scooby.

This is a terrible idea. We are still reeling from Reagan's cuts 36 years ago. The debt generated by giving the wealthy a multi-generational tax holiday is going to destroy the country. And these morons want another round of that economic cyanide?

It's really too bad I'm not a Marxist -- I'd be balls deep for this thinking it would provoke The Revolution. But that's not how it's going to go down. The corporate-owned media will just keep the entertainment sedation flowing and the new Lords and Ladies will build their castles and rape the countryside.

I believe the headcount on Senators who want to see the end of 60 for legislation is something like 72-28 against. The Freedumbs are for it, but everybody else -- even such far-sighted intellectuals as James Inhofe -- is agin' it.

I get that. I just want Trump to be so frustrated he can't get anything passed he pushes Turtle Boy over the edge. It would be great theater.

I will never turn down a chance to see Emperor Donald have a sad.

Not anymore. They'll either go right or middle, depending on the timing of the next terrorist attack.

doesn't matter if French politics lurch right. They have socialized medicine. The GOP would rather kids die in the street than implement something like that (even though it would save money considering we have the most costly healthcare system in the world).

But if people are giving their consent, don't they deserve to take it in the shorts? GOP has gotten off too easily over the years because Dem voters are giving cover for morons who want to keep voting in these conservative idiots while expecting Dems to block the effects of their Ayn Randian desires. Well no more. Let the people voting for the Republicans lose their healthcare in order to give billionaires a tax cut. I have no desire to save people from themselves.

The French don't think it's socialized. Read the article. Sure the government is involved by setting insurance rates and paying for med school, but it's not the UK system which IS socialized.

What we have is not working. We need more doctors and better management of treatment. Is the French system perfect for us? Probably not, but I've never been adverse to stealing somebody else's idea and making it work for my organization.

doesn't matter. It is.

I think most democrats would be very happy with a model similar to the french. The GOP would never go for that.

The government isn't just setting rates and paying for med school. They reimburse most of the costs. 100% for a person with a long term chronic condition or in need of a costly treatment. ~70% for others. Paid for by a social security tax. The rest is picked up by supplemental insurance, usually from a non-profit. The government even runs over half of the hospitals.

And all the ones who don't? That's the problem with this Scooby logic, yes the dumb ones who voted for it deserve it but plenty of people didn't.

Fuking vote, then. If you add up people who sat out the election + people who thought voting 3rd party was cool + people who did vote Dem + people who voted GOP and are now going to get reamed, there's no way Republicans would be in the majority in Congress.

You get what you vote for, and you get what you can't be bothered to vote against. As the majority of people taking it where the sun don't shine live in Trumpville, so be it.

doesn't matter if French politics lurch right. They have socialized medicine. The GOP would rather kill people in other countries at 10x the cost than implement something like that (even though it would save money considering we have the most costly healthcare system in the world).

FYP.

Well, not fixed, as you are also correct- most would rather have poor people just suffer since they can't pay for it.

But they have clearly shown an affinity to spending huge money saving lives by killing a lot of people, as opposed to just saving lives.

Didn't take very much intelligence to figure out that sitting out or voting third party was going to help Trump get elected. It happened in 2000.

Re: The PPACA Thread Part IV - Repeal & Replace, or Something...

I'm pretty sure the majority of people being hurt by this administration so far have been Trump voters. The tax reform they're proposing swings that back the other way.
