I don't think anyone has brought up the penalty for re-enrolling. And note- it's not a penalty for NOT having insurance, it's a penalty for letting it lapse and renewing it.

$300.

Which, instead of the tax that the ACA levied for not having insurance, goes to the insurance company.

So the insurance companies have a new way to make money- maximize the number of people who have to renew. Benefitting the very profitable insurance companies even MORE (including the tax write off of CEO compensation).

Seriously- I still question the morality that the companies who just are money in/money out, provide NO service other than that, can be so incredibly profitable. That is crazy to me. All this industry does it figure out how to maximize the ratio of OUR payments to them to THEIR payments to hospitals and doctors. That's it. An example is a person I know who had to come to work this week in spite of the doctor saying that they are far from being able to return. The reason? The insurance company decided it was long enough. And the doctor's note wasn't good enough.

If you're scoring at home, or even if you're alone, the list of groups opposing TRUMPCARE gets a new member. To the Democrats, American Hospital Assocation, Heritage, FreedomWorks, AARP, the AMA, Freedumb Caucus, Club for Growth, and Ron Paul, add the Tea Party.

Props to the GOP: you need a pretty impressive lump of sh-t to get all those groups on the same side of an issue.

All it is is a tax cut for the rich and more giveaways to insurers. GOP boilerplate.

Wait...even the Heritage Foundation doesnt like it?

No wonder Kellyanne Conway is saying we shouldnt call this TrumpCare. Though to be fair it is a failure just like everything else with Trump in the title ;)

I'm somewhat surprised the lazy lamestream media has caught onto this, focusing on all the tax breaks for the rich offset by much lower coverage. Nice to see them doing their jobs for once...

Republicans will lose a lot of mid term votes as dems crush them on their new healthcare bills.

Just as the GOP did with the ACA.

Normally I would disagree...but if you look at the groups attacking them and the people showing up at the townhalls they are the bread and butter GOPers.

The Dems need to take a page out of the GOP handbook and make sure to put this as an albatross around every GOPers neck. They used ObamaCare to bury the Dems well Trumpcare needs to do the same.

Someone needs to pick out the equivalent of death boards. Get that ball rolling, and it will never stop.

The "death panels" part of Obamacare is retained in Trumpcare. This stuff is just hilarious.

The 3 big differences:

1. Higher costs
2. Less coverage to those who are covered
3. 20M fewer people covered

And of course a nice, gratuitous giveaway to the rich, but that is part of every Republican policy.

One silver lining.

New to this thread, so it may already have been covered. Trumpcare replaces premium subsidies with tax credits. First, not large enough tax credits, but I assume if you're someone paying little or no taxes anyway, these will do nothing for you. Or do they increase what refund you would get?

You know what was awesome...when one of the GOPers was at a Town Hall talking up repealing ObamaCare to his constituents they not only booed him because went absolute ape(bleep) when he brought up Death Panels! Jon Oliver showed the clip it was delicious :D

At least Planned Parenthood will be defunded. We all know the don't do anything good for anybody.

To keep their funding all they have to do is not offer abortions. Which are legal. Because, you know, the GOP doesn't believe in activist government. :rolleyes:
