The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

Re: The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

Just like Trump to turn simply naming a candidate for the court into a complete fucking circus. Since the President is a complete assclown a circus setting fits.

Appears to be a 49-year old Scalia clone. Whatever, I assumed Scalia was going to last until he was 100 anyway.

If he's competent pass him 100-0. If he's not force them to blow it all up. But please no middling stuff.

I think we're all grateful Trump didn't nominate Barron.

I'll walk back my circus comment at least - that had far more decorum than I assumed after hearing this was going to happen in prime time.

[edit] The circus is conservatives falling over themselves talking up the nomination. I will readily admit I know very little of this nominee, but whining that liberals will get in the way while ignoring their own shenanigans toward Obama's nominee is a laugh riot.

You're projecting.

Who actually, honest and for true, did it? Harry Reid and the Ds.

In the end this will become mutually assured destruction as the other side will fire back when they can the next time.

Gee, once again you defend the republicans. How very independent of you.

His education is very similar to someone democrats adore so he has that going for him...he is basically a straight swap with Scalia. I'm not sure how democrats can complain very much. If he was replacing Kennedy it would be completely different.

He's competent. Double Ivy with Oxford as well.

If I'm a Dem senator, I let this one through and fight the next one replacing Ginsburg or Kennedy. Unless you want to force the GOP to go nuclear, because clearly the pubic didn't care about the seat being stolen.

That's defending the Rs?

Harry and the Ds did it. That is a fact. Not an alternative fact. A fact.

And what did I follow it with? That both sides are MAD (mutually assured destruction) for doing it.

I think I'm with you. Save the nuclear crap for if Ginsberg dies.

Agreed.

Agreed. Seems like he has a solid background. A fairly straight Scalia type (apparently he had to be helped down the mountain because he was so overcome when Scalia died *shrug* we all have our heroes).

The public might care about going nuclear after a couple years pass and <strike>the internment camps are back, the internet has been replaced with Bannonweb, and trump has started wearing a tiara</strike> they don't like where the country is going.

Re: The Power of SCOTUS VIII redux: IX is being blocked by the Senate.

And where was that seat exactly?

Are you really going to defend the R Senate?

They stole the seat, fair and square. I hope that in 2020 we can return the favor. (Sorry, Mrs. Thomas.)

Not sure why we keep enabling them. Anyone who doesn't fit their narrative to a tee is a stupid republican.

Reread the OP until you see it. ;)

Your goons murder Scalia, and then accuse the Republicans of stealing? The old saying is right, you truly have no brain.

You missed the joke. (uno mistyped public as pubic.) Please re-read with humor circuits activated.

One wing of government intentionally short-circuiting another is wrong (and dare I say Constitutionally wrong). Playing with checks and balances is wrong.

I am really happy with this pick. REALLY happy.

The two words I keep seeing in regards to Gorusch are "libertarian" and "Constitutionalist." Even Obama's former Acting Solicitor General, Neal Katyl, wrote an op-ed in the New York Times endorsing him.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/31/opinion/why-liberals-should-back-neil-gorsuch.html

If you're a conservative who held the living hell out of their nose and voted for Trump because of SCOTUS, this is why.

The orange chimp got one right. Holy balls.
