The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

That's a bummer EC and Potsdam are not playing next year. Hopefully the series can be re-newed at some point.
Its back to SUNYAC play for the Bears, a tough road test this weekend (aren't they all:)), a sweep would make this fan happy.

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

Can you send the schedule to my email Don?

My last name @oswego.edu

Thanks!

I do not have dates yet. Only opponents and sites. Our non-conference schedule includes Plattsburgh(A), Oswego(H and A), Cortland(H), Fredonia(A), Geneseo(A), Brockport(A), Skidmore Tournament(A), and possibly Bowdoin(H).
As soon as I get finalized dates(usually April), I will e-mail you.

Yuck...awful home schedule.

Any clue on other teams in the Skidmore tournament?

Bowdoin at home would be interesting. I can't remember the last time we had a NESCAC team at the Domes that wasn't Hamilton and wasn't for a tournament.

No Ponies on the schedule after the home and home with them this year?

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

Skidmore, Nichols, University of New England, and Brockport were the field this past year.

My guess is two New England teams will round out the field for next year's tournament with Elmira and Skidmore.

Personally I'd like to see a Westfield State or Salem State from the MASCAC in it and then a Curry/Wentworth/NEC/Castleton State type team for the other team.

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

That's because you saw Potsdam during one of their best stretches ever and arguably perhaps their best player of all time -- Steve Naughton.

Don't forget Dave Dragone in goal, Nathan Sunday on defense and a few other awesome players who were clutch.

Count me in to the Potsdam fans/former Bear.

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

Bears lose tonight 3-2 against a gritty Brockport squad. Tomorrow nights game against Geneseo means even more.
Tough start for the 2nd semester for the Bears.....Hockey Gods you owe us a few bounces from here on out!

You mean 4-2. Forgot about the empty netter.

When you open a 2-0 lead against Sheridan, you better put the game away, or you're going to blow your chance.

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

Thanks Russell, I didn't hear our play by play guy announce an empty netter.
Up 2-0 on the road was a solid start, but just couldn't hold on to it.

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

Well it was not a good weekend for the Bears. I hope they are able to sit after tonights job by the officials.
2 goals given to Geneseo for the Ice Knights as they win 5-3. Its a tough one, but alas Oswego/Cortland are up next.
My thoughts are reflective of what I heard and was told regarding the game tonight at Geneseo, must be great to have the officials hand you a game.
Otherwise a disgusting display of officiating tonight from Geneseo, its sad to hear and read how officials impact a huge game like this, brutual.

It appears as the Bears have moved on after dropping two. Big test this weekend as Oswego and Cortland awaits.
With a bit of luck, I will be in attendance for both contests.

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

I had spoke with a few of the players and they know this weekend is a big weekend. Thats how I know.:)

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

Good to see the Bears getting 2 points out of the weekend with a big win in Cortland last night. Being able to make the game Friday, thought that they played a bit closer than the final score indicated, which was encouraging to see, having only made it back up to Maxcy once this year where they looked a bit out of sorts/still finding their rhythm against Oswego early in conference play.

Hopefully the Bears can carry the momentum from last night into the homestand they will have to finish out the regular season.

One question if anyone was at the game last night: Did it get as out of hand as the box seems to indicate?

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

I attended the game at Oswego and thought a post made huge difference in the game.
The Bears got 2 points this weekend and they are at home for the remainder of the regular season.
If they win out, things will be really interesting in SUNYACS.

Re: The Potsdam Bears deserve their own thread....

The Bears face Morrisville tomorrow night in a very big contest. Any points earned now will impact the standings.
Here is one fan hoping for a win as the Bears begin their 4 game home stand.
Gotta believe!!!!
