The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Word out of the paint store is that the "I am Husky" shirt was spotted in the KBC. The parties present to witness said shirt were unable to capture any photos of the event, however.

I'm still not sure what was worse, the shirt or the smirk on your face.

Rumor also has it that the wearer was our esteemed and "slightly tipsy" Athletic Director. :D

Sweet, they've produced a Tech hockey season outlook GIF.

I could watch this for days on end.

Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

I find it funny that certain schools are wringing their hands over the possibility of having to fund hockey out of the budget. Something Tech has been doing for quite a while. maybe the playing field is about to be leveled a bit more. :)

What exactly are we talking about here?

Ummm, the BTHC stuff is not a good thing for Tech...it knocks us and all of the other mid-sized schools in the conference down to a mid-major level conference immediately. We'd be 5 years away from being in an Atlantic Hockey caliber situation.

The only advantage is that we'd be competitive in a smaller-budget league, as long as our funding doesn't drop precipitously. We'd also get more chances to actually play a series or two against NMU and other non-conference teams. Other than that... yeah, I got nothing.

There is no way Tech can continue to fund the hockey program at the same level as it currently is without the WCHA Final 5 paycheck.
