Re: The Paint Store Diaries: Michigan Tech Offseason Part III

Can anyone enlighten me on our frosh. Can they actually skate? It's one thing to see them and their numbers in the ushl, but quite another when they get on the ice here. So any news on how things are shaping up.?
Also, Dorito's, anyone think he will play better? the big guys always take a long time to develop.I think our season will be a lot better but it hinges on if we can actually play defense. Too many times last year we left the goalie out to dry. Hard to make that third and forth save, you know.

Our three best defensemen are more or less set to start the year. I'd like to see a couple guys step up and earn spots 4/5 (*cough*Dorito*cough*), at which point we should be alright.

It hinges on our ability to stay healthy and play something resembling NCAA D1 hockey, instead of the crappy, low-budget Slapshot remake we've gotten for two years in a row now.

The team from Slapshot was entertaining to watch. MTU, not so much.

yes, but the real question is, how are the FRESHMEN doing. anyone know if we will get substantive contributions from them, in other words are they what we thought when we recruited them or are they poseurs, so to speak. I think also that the team will be fun to watch this year. Given the systems tweaks and European trip.

Well, with freshmen, you just don't know until you see them play. It's just speculation at this point.

ah. but there was a day. when we got the crap beat out of us. then Tom Kaiman or John Scott would beat the heck out of somebody. and we liked it. and we went home feeling good. yeah. those were the days!!

Word out of the paint store is that the "I am Husky" shirt was spotted in the KBC. The parties present to witness said shirt were unable to capture any photos of the event, however.

Rumor also has it that the wearer was our esteemed and "slightly tipsy" Athletic Director. :D
