The official thread of the 2010 World Cup draw

Re: The official thread of the 2010 World Cup draw

What an inexplicably flat performance that Poland match was, wasn't it? Though it gets a bit lost amid the hazy glow of Dos A Cero and beating Portugal.

I'm not sure I can put the Czech Republic loss in the same category, they were just a better team who we caught before their old players all wore down, and we lost to them. It happens, I don't think it had anything to do with where they're from.

You are correct that that Czech team was quite talented, but there are so many examples of the U.S. performing poorly against teams from the region over the years years that I don't think it is a coincidence. I am in no way a soccer expert, but our surprisingly good performances almost always seem to occur against Latin teams (American or European). I suspect this may be due to the fact that the U.S. team is primarily constructed to beat Mexico.

Group of Death...

I go with Group D and Germany, Ghana, Serbia and Australia. Those are four tough teams. Two pretty bruised and bloody teams are coming out of that group and two awfully talented teams are going home.

Group G looks tough at first glance, but I really can't imagine Brazil and Ivory Coast not advancing rather easily out of that group.

I can't really bring myself to feel BAD for North Korea, but, ouch.

I guess Argentina and Spain have the easiest groups.

I thought Italy had the easiest.
