Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

That is false. What is it you people don't understand about this?

If BC was 3rd and Lowell 6th, you would have the exact same bracket, but with Lowell the 2 seed in Providence and BC the #1 in Manchester.

FFS, people.

I mean, i like UML, i have a daughter about to graduate from there so I am a little vested and a fan but UML fans, I dunno, a lot of them whine about how badly they get treated or disrespected or what ever.......like the committee went out of it's way to screw UML?? come on! and went out of it's way to take care of BC??? geeesh.

History .... had I not been at school as a student in 94 and 96, I would probably not say a thing.

WWHHHHAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Like I said before ... it is what it is ... not a major deal. Looking forward to some good hockey and hoping for the best ... which would be a NCAA Championship Game against BC in Pittsburgh.

Who the hell said the comittee screwed us? I mean, Wisconsin will be a tough out but we can handle it.

Now, the usual run of slights and the rest... Yeah we're over sensitive... But we're dealing with this well.

I expect "two points" on Friday and if we do that I expect "two points" Saturday.

Paul, the system today is entirely different compared to the mid '90s.

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

How do you guys like the 9:00 start time with a 6:30 game the next day? Doesn't seem right in a Sat-Sun regional. Especially if first game goes OT. Even if it doesn't, with television timeouts and all ... games run closer to 3 hours. So, if first game ends close to 8:30 ... BC won't be taking the ice for warmups until 9:00.
Imagine the BC/Union game going 2 OT. That's a 1:00 a.m finish.
It is what it is. Better to deal with it than to beech about it.

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

Would love to believe that. Didn't see Jason Moy swapping Lowell out east in any of the bracketologies that didn't have them falling into an east regional in the first place.

That's because BC is perceived to have a huge fan following, as do Maine and UNH in the East. BU also has a sizable following. If Lowell can bring the fans to the regional as they did to the Garden last weekend, you'll see changes accordingly.

Also, when it comes to bracketology, the committee has a tradition of bucking attendance to go for bracket integrity when it can. It wasn't able to because UNH is a host and the WCHA got 6 teams into the field. Some of us saw that attendance was going to be a tantamount issue this year, especially in the west, because of the poor placement of the regional sites. From an attendance standpoint, swapping out BC and North Dakota absolutely kills attendance while still not giving us bracket integrity.

If you were setting up the brackets, using the same guidelines as the committee, where would you place Lowell? Where would you place BC? Where would you place North Dakota?

This UML fan is psyched that we're in ManchVegas. We can legitimately compete fan-wise with UNH. Yeah, we got Wisconsin which everyone thinks should be a game in Pittsburgh, but it happens. **** happy to be going somewhere close and not have to go to Toledo and I am not worried about Wisconsin at all. Not because they're not a tough team, they are, but because I know we're playing great hockey and that will give us a chance to win. Bring it!

this the right way to think, IMO. UML is the team who is playing the best hockey. I'm glad we are not in your bracket.

the one who i responded to was the one whining this time. Listen, do i agree that you didnt get what you deserved, an easier draw? absolutely......but that's they way they do it. Go get the two points and it's a moot point. I'm not sure there are any HE fans who aren't rooting for you . if they had odds on this chit, UML would be the favorite right now. I think you got the best team at this point in time

Agree with sterlippo. I'll be there cheering my Wildcats (and UML) and hoping for the best. But from what I've seen over the past month, UML looks like a legitimate contender to win four.

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

I'm certainly no BC fan, but they are sited with the overall #1 seed, both by PW and KRACH... What exactly is your gripe?

If you SERIOUSLY believe that Quinnipiac is the best team in the country, I want a pound of what you're smoking...

They were 18-4-4 against TUCs. No other team is close to them in that metric. What is your argument against them?

Their OOC schedule wasn't exactly top notch (Maine, Ohio State, UNO). And the ECAC isn't exactly the toughest conference in the country. Getting blown out by Brown in the semis after having to go to OT with Cornell in the quarters isn't a sterling resume for a #1 overall seed. Sorry, imo they just don't deserve it.

Loss to AIC
Loss to Robert Morris

Thow out ECAC opponents because we all know the numbers skew terribly towards the ECAC.

Non-conference TUC games:
Win vs. Providence (RPI of 19)
Tie and win vs Ohio State (RPI of 29)
Wins x2 vs. UNO (RPI of 30)

Where are the quality wins?

TUC is not a good argument here, at least not for Quinnipiac as it relates to everything.

- Do you look at their schedule and believe it is the 11th best in the country as the RPI calculates?
- TUC breakdown by conference:

ECAC 8
WCHA 8
CCHA 7
HE 5
AHA 3

- If you look at TUC as a great measure of good teams, would you agree that TUC tells us that the ECAC is as good as the WCHA and better than the WCHA and Hockey East? No thanks. Not me.

Clearly the way the numbers work they are skewed to overrate the ECAC. It doesn't bother me. But what is my argument against Quinnipiac and their 18-4-4 TUC record? Well, that's an easy one.

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

I'm more twisted seeing UNH a number two seed after we went 2-0-1 against them and knocking them out of the Hockey East Tournament in the first round. I understand that the pairwise did not go in our favor but still...We got love from Jack Edwards though...Looking forward to next year.

Ok, now tell me the team you put ahead of them.

So, using your head to head comparisons as a seeding tool, UNH should be "twisted" about Lowell being a #1 seed? UNH went 3-0-0 against them this season. PWR is about your entire season. Luckily, UNH performed well out of conference early and that's what carried them to a #2 seed. I agree, Providence should be very good next year.

Their OOC schedule wasn't exactly top notch (Canisius, Air Force, Vermont). And the WCHA isn't exactly the toughest conference in the country. Getting shutout by CC in the semis after having to go to OT with Bemidji in the quarters isn't a sterling resume for a #1 overall seed. Sorry, imo they just don't deserve it.
Correct.

btw, apparently the GR regional ticket sales totals someone quoted elsewhere were greatly exaggerated (partially due to return tickets from UMi?) so who knows how crowded it will be.

Actually, and eighth of an ounce would do--that's some strong s-h-i-t! :D

In the CHN bracket contest 60% have BC coming out of Providence and only 28% picked Q which is a very low number for a one seed.

I think the twisting was about Provicid!1!!!!1! beating UNH and them still being a 2 seed (I may be mistaken)
