Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

You guys do realize that without BC, there would be about 100 people excited about attending in Providence for Quinnipiac, Canisius and Union. No offense to any of those programs, but that is not exactly an appealing group for the casual fan going to plunk down $80 a ticket.

With the BC game being at 9 PM EST the night before Easter, I'm not so sure BC is even gonna have a great turnout for this like they usually do for eastern regionals. Student turnout won't be great, that's for sure.

The Regional in Providence looks like a BC Holiday Tourney....most years those other 3 schools could be brought in for BC to get two wins, two home gates. I mean seriously....at the beginning of the season if you told a BC fan that is what their Regional at the NCAA 's would look like, in order to get to the FF you have to beat Union and then the winner of Canisius and Quinnipiac...I think they (and most schools) would take that.

I know - things have changed, but I think a lot of BC fans - if they are being honest - would say they like their Regional over the other 3.

While this isn't a great BC team, you're right that this is the best regional for them. Doesn't mean they will take advantage of it, but it's the best shot they have.

why do i continue to read about boston college being screwed? if anybody got screwed it was quinnipiac having to get through bc to advance to the frozen four! maybe the committee could of split up minnesota and north dakota it seems every year those two teams are placed in the same region, bc has a cake walk to the FF and the wcha teams have to run into one another to make it there, is the committee afraid of an all wcha frozen four? i think so!

By comparison, the Manchester regional will be ten times more exciting with Denver and Wisconsin taking on Lowell and UNH.

First of all it's $80 for three games of playoff hockey, $27 bucks a game is not a terrible deal for the quality of play that you will see. Quinnipiac should travel well, and Union brought probably the largest contingent to AC last weekend. I don't even pretend to know where Canisius is but this is the time for the fans to show up.

You are correct if they take the Everett Turnpike. If they take RTE 3 it is about .05 miles further away. They won't be serving beer there since it is a NCAA event so hopefully that will suppress the Lowell crowd. :)

I guess you dont understand the notion of the pregame.

Lowell already has a bar booked for Friday afternoon.

Michigan got screwed. We had the longest streak in the nation going on. Beat the **** out of western, miami in the playoffs.

:D

Michigan didn't pay the officials enough $$$$

And $27 is cheap compared to many western schools regular season games. ;)

BC is screwed because of the following 2 reasons.

1) They once again are placed into the "powder puff" regional, the one that the NCAA has made sure that no scary WCHA team is allowed, and the other teams have Krach ratings that wouldn't even qualify for the tourney .

2) They get to play within 50 miles of home for the 13th time in a row. The NCAA should try and treat them a little better.

I can barely imagine how bitter they must be by this ill treatment.

Amen,

Though i cant imagine the horrible treatment by the ncaa towards the like of boston college fans having to sit through three games of peewee hockey in the east regional, as it stacks up now the second round game in the west looks to be the best game in the tournament, van andel arena will look to the likes of the X during the final five in the past years with a lot of maroon and gold and the st patties green from the like of the dirt farmers formally known as a weird looking tic tac toe puzzle on the front of their uniforms

There is nothing else to do in North Dakota/Minnesota so that explains why they can charge so much...

You want some cheese to go with that "whine"? You make the tournament 23 straight years and then moan that you miss a year?. My heart bleeds...

I thank you for the praise but we only made the Tournament for 22 straight years. Only two players on Michigan's roster were even alive the last time that Michigan didn't make the tournament.

Don't be surprised that next year when michigan is allowed to play in the same conference as the gophs from here on out your ticket prices dont spike as well :D

no question but this isn't the type of BC team that perhaps you have seen or are used to seeing in the tourney

Maybe it is due to the 6 WCHA teams in the four brackets. Would you rather play against Sconnie right now or NoDak?

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

People are right, this bracket is complete garbage! The Committee knows full well that Easter Sunday is the holiest day of the year in the Catholic Church, and yet they schedule BC for a game at 9 PM the night before. Why so late? Given that mass is at 8 AM you'd expect everyone to be asleep around that time.

Wait, don't you guys do Easter Vigil? I would expect you all to be in church instead of at the game Saturday night!

Re: The Official "My team got screwed!" thread of the 2013 NCAA Hockey Tournament

Simple Math screwed us. I want a smoke filled room full of guys that let my team in based on name recognition and recent play. There was no need to even watch the selection show, everyone had figured out who would get in already. Where's the fun in that? Bring back the suspense!

My team got also got screwed because we had to win our conference tournament to get in. Someone else should have taken out Notre Dame for us. We can't seem to win against Jeff Jackson. (maybe I should go put that in the CCHA airing of greivances thread)

it's karma for having the ugliest helmets ever.
Clearly you haven't seen the far too shiny Notre Dame helmets this year. They went well with all the sparkles going on at Cobo this weekend (Some kind of cheerleading tournament next door to the CCHA tournament).
