Sooooooo bitter

Maybe we could also stop factoring in the ECAC. Then those two losses to Union wouldn't have hurt so much. Or the tie with Princeton .......

But yeah, lets count playing a group of 17 year olds too, because that was a nice win for ME.

The system is known and it is clear. Teams know what they have to do and they either do it or they don't. 16 teams did and they are skating.

you know he was kidding, right?

BC was screwed. How could they put North Dakota in our bracket when both teams won their conference tournaments...its so unfair. Its like the committee wants BC to lose.

Ummm, excuse me Your Royal Greyness, I have a follow-up question directly related to the presence of M&Ms in the tournament. Now that the NFL owners have passed these new-fangled OT rules, http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2010/03/23/nfl-owners-approve-ot-rule-change/ if one of this week's NCAA hockey games goes into OT which team will kick off? Will there still be plenty of time to show college lacrosse? Will any of this diminish the Golden Golfers' chances in the Stay-At-Home-Regional?

Signed, Barry Melrose:D

It all hinges on the size of Cornell's rink & team speed in relation to the mullets on the Johns Hopkins lacrosse team. Try to keep up, Slick. :)

I think ferris State got hosed big time. Miami is the number one team in country correct? ANd although miami did sweep ferris at home and beat them at the joe, Look at what Ferris did to Miami at the goggin or i mean the steve caddy arena. SWEPT MIAMI!!! However since shootout wins only count in conference and not nationally these went down and ties and not wins. I feel each conference should adapt the shoot out this way deserving teams will get in for there wins rather than just a win in conference and a tie nationaly. Any thoughts?

The shootout is a ****y way to decide games. Still tied after 5 minutes in the regular season? IT'S A TIE.

So does fighting, or so the pros think.

They won two shootouts against Miami. To call that a "sweep" -- in all caps -- is grossly misleading. If a conference chooses to do something that no other conference wants to do, why should the other conferences have to adjust?

Would you feel the same way if Miami had won the shootouts? I doubt it.

They aren't pros. There's nothing wrong with ties, and there's no reason to decide games based on a skills competition. College players should be working on teamwork and winning/losing as a team, not competing against each other to see who's best at penalty shots.

Guess what? It's stupid in the NHL, too.

Hockey is a team game, the shootout is not.

Yes i did put it in all caps 2 me a shootout win is still a win therefore meaning a sweep and yes i would be feeling the same way if miami won a wins a win. Look at the nhl because of shootout troubles the red wings are struggling to get in the playoffs and the coyotes are doing well in the shootout. Just saying wish all confrences would do this even though they wont. Also i do feel there should be fighting in college hockey some kids coming out of jrs are tough guys they have a hard time fitting in in the college game, also if you look at scrums in the college game every1 thinks there tough with the cage on knowing you cant fight.

Ties suck, do nothing for comparisons, and are like kissing your sister. How about take your best three guys, and duke it out, referees and linesmen get to vote on the winner? Now that is a way to settle something.

Interesting perspective on what teams should have gotten in (or the KRACH argument Part 6 zillion...)

At least this blogger agreed with me. It proves three things I guess:
1. The pairwise is slightly flawed if you break it down using common sense.
2. Great minds think alike.
3. Michigan minds are great. (obviously);)

Shootout's are entertaining, but I agree they are not good ways to decide a game. Although I also hate to see ties. IMO, teams should just keep playing, no 5 minute OT, put another 20 on the board and play 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 until someone scores a goal.

Re: The official "My team got screwed" thread for the 2010 NCAA Tunament (attn newbies)

To me personally, there is no more exciting thing to see than a college hockey game in the NCAA tournament in the 2nd or 3rd overtime and the winning goal is scored during regular play. The emotion and excitement of that moment cannot be duplicated in a shootout.

If we are going to do some real arbitrary skills competition, how about something that's REALLY entertaining.

3 guys each team.

One pair run a race around the rink, including collisions, in hampster balls.

One pair pedal around the rink, including collisions, in trikes with extra large rear wheels.

And if not a sweep- score-o.
