they list at $209 but with the instore discount they were $176. not many left last night.

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

Beta on the Fla games? I was thinking of Key West for New Years eve, but not committed. Where & when are these games?

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

The key is a potential game against CC. If they play the Tigers, it will be the only WCHA team on the schedule. Win that game and Maine wins the COp component of the PWR against every WCHA team - lose that game and they lose that component. If that game doesn't happen, then Maine plays Cornell. Currently Maine is 1-2 against the ECAC, so games against Princeton and Cornell would be huge.

Maine is sitting 18th in the PWR today. The component that hurts them is TUC (3-6-1) but they have the chance to improve that in January and February - and teams will fall out of the TUC. The losses to Union (the last team in the tournament) really hurt right now but the victory vs Michigan State is big. Given BU's usual Jan/Feb run, the win over them may turn out to be key.

The schedule shapes up pretty nicely in the second half. Win the Florida tournament and this could be a 20-win team...and heads around here will explode :p

Re: The Official Maine 2009 season thread:The Revenge of TIMMAY!!!

They will indeed. ;)

I think we might be getting carried away a bit. Maine is all of two games over .500, after a 5-game winning streak against less-than-stellar competition. The Lowell game was the only big win (and the only road game) of the five. And Maine caught the Riverhawks right when they were falling back to Earth.

Of course, it's been a while since Maine regularly won when they were supposed to. So things are headed in the right direction...

2nd half will be a good test.

They could easily go to Estero, lay an egg and the second half unravels. The season comes down to three weekends in January and February. They play @Vermont, UHN, @BU on successive weekends. If they get 5 points or less from those games then they're in trouble. Get 6 points or more and they're fine heading into a stretch that sees them finish Lowell, @Merrimack, UMA.

Isn't it funny that people judge this team on HOW they are playing and not just whether they win or lose. That is why so many people were down on this program that last few seasons. Now we can see that there HAS been a change in the way that this team is playing........the internet nutcases were not just talking out of their arses.......:p

Why can't we use this light blue:

Instead of this light blue:

Am I the only one that sees the difference?

Take a look at the BDN pictures on-line........they look like the puke blue color to me. I don't know why they started using that electric puke blue.......but its starting to show up in every team's uniforms........and in the clothing that they sell of course.

I saw them in person, looked like the standard baby blue(or whatever color blue it is) to me?

Maybe I am color blind, but there is definitely a difference between these 2 colors........especially when you are wearing them!.......

Nailed it.

I am willing to sacrifice the hit on RPI if Union goes on a losing streak and they fall out of consideration, for the boost that will give us on the TUC. Those two games are really hurting us on the PWR. It is still early though.

If Maine wins, yes, they would be 1-0-0 against the WCHA, but that doesn't mean they'll automatically win the COp comparison against all WCHA teams. Minnesota, NoDak, Denver and CC have all played other teams on Maine's schedule.

Minnesota could be 3-0 against common opponents, having beaten Michigan State and with two games remaining against CC. Right now Maine is at 1-1 having split with MSU. The best Maine could do would be 2-1 if they play and defeat CC, in order to win the comparison, Maine would need CC to sweep Minnesota. If Maine were to lose to CC, Minnesota could get swept by CC and still split the comparison. If Maine loses and Minnesota splits with CC, Minnesota would win the COp comparison.

North Dakota could finish as good as 4-0 against common opponents, having beaten Merrimack twice and with two games remaining against CC. Maine could be 4-0 as well should they sweep Merrimack and play and then defeat CC. NoDak needs only to split with CC to put the pressure on Maine to win 3 of 4 against MC/CC.

A win over CC would give Maine the head to head comparison over CC and Maine could win the COp by virtue of their 2-1 record vs. Northeastern (CC split with them), unless Maine were to face NU and lose a three game first round HE series or lose to NU at the Garden should both advance that far. If that happens, they would both have .500 records against COp, and if that were the case Maine would need to win either RPI or TUC to win the pairing.

Denver is currently 2-1-1 against COps (Split with UVM, and win and tie against CC) with two games remaining against CC, and one against BC (potential to be 5-1-1). Maine is currently 1-1-1 against BC and UVM with at least three games remaining plus any potential playoff match-ups. If DU goes 4-2-1, Maine would have to win all three remaining games against BC and UVM, and then not lose to either in the first round to win the comparison. If they go 4-1-1 and then lose to either at the Garden, they would halve the comparison and it would come down to RPI and TUC to win the pairing.

Isn't it nice just to be able to know that this actually matters!!! ;)

What were these specs the last 6 games? Hopefully that will be the continuing benchmark going forward to the next half of the season !
