Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???

Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???

"BC cant skate with us" is the funniest piece of irony ever said. It really is. It was like watching a marooon team skate against traffic cones for three hours. Good call, Rico. Go buy some more suits

Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???

RHM - I've been busy and not on the boards very much lately, so I just now saw your new avatar. I'm honored. :p

Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???

Good luck to the Redhawks this year!

I've really enjoyed watching their offense these past couple of years during the playoffs. Do they still have gas in the tank, or have they lost significant firepower?

Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???

I don't think it was squirts. I only had one year of that cuz that's when USA hockey realigned the ages to stay with the canadiens. There wasn't much offensive firepower on that team after me anyways so I think it was older. Can't remember.

Probably one of the coolest things of the winter lol, too bad he had to melt and we couldt take him to detroit.

They will have plenty of fire power...Only lost 2 top guys and return 3 lines full of offensive talent.

Well wasn't older because you would of played with me and that wasn't the case. He didn't play in hamilton after squirts and left town after first year bantam's.

Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???

So while I was enjoying a couple of blueberry pancakes this morning I discovered that Patterson's has a cute little menu item called a Rico Blasi Iced Tea. Outside of GBD that has to be the most consideration I have ever given to drinking at 8:30 in the morning.

Is it hard iced tea? I am of the belief that mixed drinks or hard lemonades ect. don't count before noon. So don't feel bad! :D

Frankly if it is furity in the least I think it should be considered a breakfest beverage. Hence why screwdrivers and eggs are perfectly acceptable.

Does he play center or left wing?

But seriously as a Pistons fan living in Ohio the last three years I'm having a great laugh right now. However, this press conference is embarrassing for LBJ, look like more of a ****** please.

Which 9 forwards comprise the 3 lines "full of" offensive talent?

We have this guy named Justin VAIVE, maybe you've heard of him, he actually plays center, left wing and right wing at the same time. So in reality only 7 forwards are needed to put 3 lines on the ice  .

I don't think rhm means every player on three lines will be high end "offensive talents." Obviously players on lines have roles. But I do think Miami has the potential to have three good lines given the proven seniors returning (Miele, Camper, Canonne). What will determine Miami's offensive depth are a few things, IMO: 1) will McKenzie and Smith, both 18 year old freshmen last year with good numbers, progress and be able to create on their own? 2) will Vogelhuber, Hirschfeld, or Vaive improve their offensive numbers and roles? 3) will either Mason or Mantha emerge given that they will have expanded roles and both showed flashes, but only flashes, last year? and 4) will Miami get significant offensive contributions from either Paulazzo or Cook, as older freshmen who had good numbers in the USHL?

Any two of those and Miami will have three good lines, IMO, but not the depth they have enjoyed the last three seasons. Losing Wingels certainly creates some suspense as far as Miami offense, pp, sh, and defensive contributions by forwards (all Wingels' strengths). Also, assuming Miami's d all return, there is some offense there with Weber, Schilling, Wideman, and Hartman, all jumped in at times last year and collectively had pretty good offensive numbers. And if all the d are healthy, tomassoni will see some forward time.

I agree, alnike, that there is more uncertainty this year than recently for Miami, and certainly the body of work the last three years is a difficult standard to maintain, both offensively and defensively. By the way, we'll be having some real fun discussions next summer about Miami - now that will be interesting. :)

Re: The Official 2010 Miami offseason thread: 3rd times a charm??? maybe???

Anytime you can spread 5 guys that had 20 + points a year ago over 3 lines you have offensive talent.

Projected lines with point totals:

line 1: Camper 16 g 28 a, Cannone 14 g 17 a, McKenzie 6 g 21 a

line 2: Miele 15 g 29 a, Smith 8 g 12 a, Hirschfeld 7 g 7 a

line 3: Vogelhuber 8 g 4 a, Paulazoo (freshman) 21 g 33a in USHL , Mantha 2 g 4 a in 18 gp

line 4: Vaive 5 g 3 a, Mason 1 g 2 a in 7 gp, Cook ( freshman ) 23 g 26 a in USHL

Defense:

line 1: Weber 1 g 9 a , Hartman 7 g 8 a

line 2: Wideman 5 g 18 a, Schilling 4 g 19 a

line 3: loverde 3 g 8 a, Spinell 1 g 3 a

So maybe 3 lines is a stretch because the 3rd line certaintly has the capability but are unproven. They certaintly won't be 4 lines deep like they were the past two years but they have 3 solid lines and the 4th is a role line. Voglehuber certaintly has the offensive talent to put up bigger numbers which is why the Blue Jackets drafted him, he just hasn't had the opportunity. Mantha showed flashes but like redeagle said need to see more over a longer period and Paulazoo certainly put up impressive numbers in juniors but never know how that will translate. So while the #'s on the third line aren't overly impressive there is very good offensive talent there which is why I made that comment.

Not to mention the offensive on the blue line that this team possesses.

Lets be honest he plays two positions and his hair plays the third....:D
