The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Re: The NFL Thread, Part III: What lockout?

Anyone else notice the highlight package they had in tribute to Moss at the end of last night's SportsCenter? Must've been at least 60% clips of him in a Patriots jersey, despite only spending 3+ seasons there over 13 years. I even spotted a few shots of Tom Brady edited in there. Just Tom Brady.

ESPN is reaching MSNBC/Fox News levels of "not even trying to hide it anymore".
Hell, ESPN is slowly becoming like MTV anymore. Hardly showing sports, just reporting on the gossip and rumors of the Stars.

Oh yes. Time spent in car with Mike & Mike last week where discussion of the New York Jets was going on: at least 70%. This week it's Philly, of course.
I'm not sure what these two things have to do with ESPN's blatant Boston homerism.

I have a feeling anyone from that general NE United States area is completely blind to ESPN's blatent homerism towards their teams.

At least in the group of friends here in the Boston area, we're aware of it and none to thrilled. Frankly, it sucks to have our baseball games broadcast on ESPN, especially when that blacks out our local station. The national announcers are a disgrace compared to our local guys (Jerry Remy and Don Orsillo). I also think the coverage is bad sports as a whole as it creates a "have" market and a disinterested "have-not" market, which isn't good for the overall sport.

I have 0 interest in basketball, so I tune out all NBA coverage, so I'm not sure that they're fawning over the Celtics. I do know that they have a thing for the Lakers, and LeBron, obviously.

I actually think the interest in the Pats is relatively new, at least at this intensity. To me, they've always focused more on Manning than Brady, though he does certainly get plenty of face-time. I think the interest in the Pats as a whole has been piqued by their unusual pick ups of Moss, Haynesworth, and Johnson - guys who do not seem to fit the Patriot model of reserved personality.

Its more to the Red Sox than any other team, The Pats also but not as much as the Sox.

I just loved ESPN had Red Sox vs Indians monday, will have Yankees vs White Sox tonight all leading up to Red Sox vs Yankees sunday...and yet they completely skip over a very heated rivalry between 1st and 2nd place Brewers vs Cardinals.

1st place Tigers vs. 1st place Rangers as well. Eh, they're just fodder for the inevitable Yankees-Red Sox ALCS to see who plays Philadelphia anyway.

Why talk about anyone else? Hope they talk up Sabathia for the Cy Young some more since the rest of us got our token Cy's with Greinke and Felix the last two years.

Joseph Goebbels would be proud of the propaganda job that ESPN has done for the NBA against the NHL.

It all ties in with the overall awfulness of ESPN's coverage. Vs./NBC Sports needs to start going for more market share NOW.

Do we even know, for absolute certain, that he's dead and that he hasn't been sipping from the fountain of youth to stay young so he can continue his work in Bristol?

I cant stand ESPN Radio, Mike and Mike in the Morning. I listen to WJAB, The Big Jab up here in Maine. It picks up Fox Sports Radio...which is better than ESPN Radio

Bills trade Lee Evans for a 4th rounder.

(holding it in because I know I'll post something that will get me in trouble if I don't.)
