Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Micheal Vick just tweeted that he won Comeback POY

He was in the league last year and even played...so it's not like he was coming back from anything that happened to him last year.

I was thinking someone like Wes Welker who tore his ACL in the season finale and was ready to go in game one this year.

Don't ask me. I'm just the messenger :p

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Anyone notice a theme here in Wes Welker's press conference?

* On Tom Brady's experience: "Having Tom in there – it goes without saying, the guy is who he is and he does a great job of making sure everyone is on the same page and putting their best foot forward going out there and playing well and doing what they can out there."
* On teaching young players about the playoffs: "It's a playoff atmosphere and you can't just stick your toe in the water..."
* On last year's playoffs, one week after he tore an ACL and MCL: "I had my foot up in the air trying to get the swelling to go down and things like that."
* On being healthy for this year's playoffs: "This is what you spend all year getting ready for and you want to go out there and put your best foot forward."
* On Jets Pro Bowl CB Darrelle Revis: "He's got great feet, he moves around well and [he] does some good things out there."
* On how the team has grown since its last loss in November: "I think we have had some younger players really step-up this year."
* On Revis (again): "I think he is very patient. He has good feet. He moves around really well."
* On fellow Patriots WR Deion Branch: "He is another guy with great feet and he can really move around and do some great things out there."
* On maintaining momentum after the Patriots' bye last week: "... you never know when you will get the chance to run it again before the game, so you want to make sure that you are putting your best foot forward out there and making it happen."
* On having a playoff atmosphere in practice this week: "Yeah, absolutely. (We're) really moving forward and we're going out there being good little foot soldiers."
* On combating the Jets' blitz packages: "(They) move people around and do a lot of blitzes. A lot of teams you don't see all year, so you definitely have to be on your toes and make sure that you're ready to go."

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

If the Pats lose, then Welker might have to apologize for foot-in-mouth disease.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

True. They are arch rivals as of late. It's a tough call as to who should win this game.

It's a tough call, no doubt. If the Jets can run the ball well it will be interesting as stopping counters and traps seems to be the achilles heel of the Pats D.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

The Jets and Patriots already hate each other as much as possible...all this stuff is just fun for the fans.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Very first play of the divisional round (opening kickoff) is challenged. Settle in.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Nice answer by Baltimore.

Both teams utilizing the throw-it-up-and-hope-for-PI offense.
