Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

So it's going to be Packers-Steelers? The media will have fun with this. Two old-school, blue collar franchises. Most successful all time vs. most successful in the Super Bowl era.

And I am ecstatic. I don't care what happens anymore, because WE BEAT THE BEARS!!!!!

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

They must have hired Chili for the playoffs.

It's Marty Ball...I mean Brian Ball ;)

Packers-Steelers is a great matchup. Eliminate the loud mouth criminal Jets and then hopefully GB takes care of Roethlisberger.

"Deepest penetration"
"Snuck it in"

Kudos to Nantz for trying to keep the broadcast entertaining.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

It's okay. Sometimes you have to enjoy success vicariously through other, more useful franchises. It happens.

I'm not that fond of the Steelers (although I am a fan of Heath Miller and Mike Tomlin). It's just a better choice than the Packers. I am happy that the Packers beat the Bears, who I think were frauds.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

I'm curious, what are your guys' opinions on Cutler leaving the game early? Legitimate knee injury or legitimate uterus injury?

From appearances, I think one of the following:

1. The coaches used the injury as an excuse to bench him
2. Cutler told the staff he was injured, and couldn't play (basically gave up)

I guess he was always standing on the sideline, which I wouldn't think is a smart idea, given that it was a leg/knee injury.

I know he's being ROASTED on Twitter from other NFL players.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Follow up: If you're the Chicago doctors, do you lie to protect Cutler? I mean, with the season over, it doesn't hurt anything to come out on like Tuesday and say it was a torn ligament or something right?

As for me though, I think I'm in the legitimate injury camp right now. However poorly he was playing, and however bizarre Lovie's decisions can be at times, do you really think he'd be benched in favor of Todd freakin' Collins?

Well, Collins (as much as he sucks) couldn't really do worse than Cutler at that point.

I dunno... if there's one thing we've always known about Cutler, it's that his highs and lows are pretty extreme. I can definitely buy into the fact that Smith would have used this as an excuse to bench Cutler for Collins.

They are married to him financially, so if nothing was really there it might not be a bad idea to lie to save his *** hoping he'll someday get it. I don't think he will but they should probably give it a shot.

Re: The NFL Thread (cont'd)

Somewhere, the ghost of Herb Brooks would like to remind Cutler that the knee is a hell of a long way away from the heart.

(I'd like to give Cutler the benefit of the doubt here and I know that he was mostly benched for playing poorly, but its way too much fun to just rail on him instead...)
