The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I heard this rumor when I was down at BG and I really hope it doesn't happen. On the other hand i'm sure BG really hopes it does, they are really good at whining down there.
But you have to ask yourself, the nacho snubbed Mankato and Bemidji as not good enough in the recent past. Now they are fine with them? kind of, well disingenuous to say the least.

To tell the truth this was a hot rumor much earlier in the year, but now that most schools are done and meetings are starting, I'm sure Bg is pushing it again.
Now if you said, the WCHA was entertaining accepting Duluth, WMU and Miami, I'd believe that one.

still makin' stuff up about BG, eh? give it up. breathe deeply, and your playoff butthurt will pass.
the so-called hot rumor was worthless then, and it's worthless now.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

I saw there was some more discussion last night on Twitter about continued changes to college hockey. I have a hunch that the rumored swap of WMU and Miami for BSU and MSU are going to be true.

I wonder if the MAC schools would pick up the four western AHA schools (Canisus, Niagara, Mercyhurst, BobbyMo), take FSU with and revive the CCHA.

This would leave the WCHA with just six teams: UAA, UAH, UA_, MTU, NMU, and LSSU.

Just out of curiosity, are you counting UMass as a MAC school?

If there is one thing I'd change, i'd educate the rest of the world that this is a darn good league and that the opinions that I've seen on here and in print about this being a bunch of no name, crummy teams is not even close to accurate.

I'd also get the refs to start calling all the picks that teams are running. I see them all the time and Wisconsin, Lowell,Union, ND, and Providence, do it constantly.

I guess that's two things.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

We need BG, MSU, and Bemidji to keep the WCHA momentum started with this past season.
We could not afford to lose them.
Why would we even think about admitting Western and Miami.
Let them pay for their past sins. I would hope the WCHA would reject their application without even taking the time to process it.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

It would be an interesting proposal from a BSU standpoint. I love the WCHA and how all the schools are fairly similar, but a move to the NCHC, as much as I would hate it, would make sense from a travel standpoint and in state rivals standpoint. Picking up conference games against UMD, SCSU and UND would generate more interest in the casual fan base. But would BSU be stranded in the bottom half much like they were in the old WCHA? I think their best chance of winning on a consistent basis is with the new WCHA and not with the NCHC.

Re: The New WCHA IV (2013-14): Unlocked and Cocked

If we're worried about branding, we trade the NCHC the Broadmoor, the WCHA name, and the Beavers and Mavericks for the Broncos and Redhawks, some good officials, and re-start the CCHA. We keep Tech and the MacNaughton.

I'm gonna start an offseason league thread here in a minute. [ETA] Here it is: http://board.uscho.com/showthread.php?109955-The-New-WCHA-2014-Offseason-See-ya-Bruce

All the chatter about what school moving where and when. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
It's the money. Pure and simple. It's the money.
If it's nickels and dimes nobody is going anywhere.
If it's hundreds of thousands or more then you better get the moving vans lined up cause there is going to be a move.

Please show me where someone from any WCHA school has said they want to leave. It's got to be a President, Coach or AD to have any credibility.

Does the Commish of the WCHA. count?

Bruce said in an. Interview conference shuffling is around the corner.

Sad reality.
