The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

Re: The New WCHA 3, Revenge of the Sieve (2013-14)

they have a better record, but against wisconsin, i'd give nmu the nod since wisconsin is not the same team they were prior to the goalie going down. NMU doing as well as they did last week at wmu was big.

And besides, if we're looking at non-conference games, UAA would look the best, with wins against Quinnipiac, Denver and Air Force...

I'm really surprised you think so highly of NMU. Even I see them as middle of the pack. WMU looked awful this past weekend, and NMU just didn't play as awful (it was still sloppy). Partially, the ice conditions at Lawson can be blamed. Even after each resurfacing, the ice looked like it hadn't been touched.

If NMU can put it together, they'll be dangerous, but for right now, I think having home ice first round is the biggest concern.

Really sucks for BGSU.

NHL Central Scouting released their preliminary players to watch list and only 6 players committed to WCHA schools made the list:
Marshall Donald (Sherwood Park-AJHL) - Northern Michigan
Mason Blacklock (Vernon-BCHL) - Michigan Tech
Demico Hannoun (Vernon-BCHL) - Michigan Tech
Alex Gillies (Salmon Arm-BCHL) - Michigan Tech
Mark Friedman (Waterloo-USHL) - Bowling Green
Hunter Warner (Waterloo-USHL) - Minnesota State

you are correct, sorry. Also missed another Waterloo player committed to Minnesota State. 6 seems a little better, on 4 teams. That lines up a little better with CHI saying half of college hockey is represented on the list.

There are 38 uncommitted players on the list that are likely eligible for college hockey.
AJHL - 2
BCHL - 2
NAHL - 4
USHL - 6
Midwest HS - 6
Michigan AAA - 3

Who knows if that number will increase and obviously there are some players that are not on this list that will be on future lists and even get drafted. Just interesting to see how little representation the WCHA has on the list.

I know there's been a lot of travel talk on here lately so just in time for that here is the BGSU Bus Tour with Andrew Wallace discussing BG's new travel arrangements.

http://youtu.be/pSn0vZ5IwqM

Also for more entertaining travel videos BG did a 3 or 4 part video series shot and narrated by Wallace and Williamson for the Alaska trip last year that is pretty fun.

BG, you've had the under 3 hour rides to Michigan, MSU OSU FERRIS, Notre Dame & Miami for the last 20 years. Welcome to what we've had for that same span where, other than 3 hrs to LSSU, Ferris was the short ride at 6 hrs and OSU, MIA and UNO ranged from 11 to 14!

I'm not complaining just thought it was interesting getting the inside look from players who haven't had to deal with that kind of travel before and how they feel about it. I've heard plenty of bus trip from hell stories out to UNO in the winter from my former co-workers at BG athletics from when they where in the CCHA.

Oh man. The video on YouTube when the bus got stuck is hilarious.

It will be interesting to see if BG flies to Bemidji when they go there next year. Otherwise, it's a full 2 days on the bus, about 16-17 hours with meal stops.

The bus is pretty awesome. Those are pretty much the travel standard for minor league teams. If I'm not mistaken, the tables in front and back also fold down to increase sleeping space. You can comfortably sleep 24 plus a few rookies on the floor. I've done over 100,000 miles on those things and they are actually pretty decent.

I thought BGSU got a sleeper bus so they could bus everywhere? figure they'll do the 2 drivers, drive right through.

The BGSU bus seems really nice... I need to get a bus like that for my own travels... Anyone got an extra $750k lying around :p

Time to get a Win Chargers!

As much as I hate Huntsville, I hate St. Clown more due to several experiences with Hussy fans at the National Concrete Center in past visits there (so much so that I won't go back there, and it is only an hour from me, closer than Bemidji's 2.5 hours). I have only had one experience like that in Huntsville with a fan.

That's probably the most likely option. Have driver 2 somewhere between Madison and the Cities ready to go!

Yeah that's the plan, leave on Wednesday night sleep through the night and wake up when they get to the hotel and have a normal Thursday before the weekend games.
