Re: The New WCHA (2013-14)

Denver goes down. Miami looking bad. hmmm. Luckily for the NaCHo league they will get an autobid. poised to become the AHA of the West?

Re: The New WCHA (2013-14)

Well done Ferris! only 3 more to go!

Hopefully Lowell holds on in this one and then UND gets their asses handed to them tomorrow. (Yes I know that they play Western, but I look at them as the least of all evils in that collection of **********s)

Re: The New WCHA (2013-14)

Then why expand in the past with teams like Minnesota State, Bemidji State, Alaska Anchorage? How were those additions the "best for the member schools?"

I apologize if I'm stepping on a different point you may be making.

But...because adding MN schools was good for U MN, UMD and SCSU. I think most in the WCHA have been happy to retain MTU. I don't know that on an average year that a typical wcha fan would say we defintely prefer MTU over BSU (and the answer for a state MN fan may not be what you would want to hear).

I love the continuous whining from you about this! Keep it up!

Re: The New WCHA (2013-14)

From a WCHA playoffs perspective, the Huntington center in Toledo looks pretty darn good if the Resch is not available and/or the Van Andel is not feasable. Seats 7500 for hockey, very good staff, plenty of media connections, good airline and freeway access. Plus because of it's location you might get CBS to send a truck. There are a lot of alumni from the U.P. schools close enough by that you might draw fairly well.

I think Toledo falls into the "We're going WHERE?" category. See: Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines, IA; Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, Fort Wayne, IN.

Well maybe but it's 20 miles to BGSU, a number of alumni from various schools are within maybe 75 miles, and it's not really that bad. Green Bay could be considered that as well. Actually GB is maybe smaller than Toledo is. Plus it's much harder to get a tv network to send a truck to GB.Worth considering at least. I just think joe louis or something big is asking for trouble and a financial bath.

Grand. Garden. Arena.

It's a brilliant idea that would probably never happen. But I have to say...I'm probably not flying to Green Bay. I'm not flying to Toledo.

But, I would fly to Vegas for this. Since the conference is so spread out anyway might as well go somewhere fun.

Green Bay is a lot of fun!

Green Bay is a lot of fun!

I seem to recall thinking the same when I lived in Marquette

Now that I've left, I tend to use distance from Green Bay as a sign of Mqt's remoteness... (i.e., You know how far into the middle nowhere NMU is? Marquette is 3 hours from a big city of any kind - and that just gets you to Green Bay! :D )

:)

the only problem is that the Resch is most likely out, so then what?

Re: The New WCHA (2013-14)

no! I like the Resch. its a good arena and Green Bay is actually pretty fun. seriously, compared to Toledo? is this even an issue? its Grand Rapids, Green Bay or a wonderful spring break warm beach place. Tahiti, Barbados? Key West has an ice arena - well, sort of .... but, hey hang out in the Green Parrot long enough and neither the teams, coaches or fans will care how hard that ice is...

I think FL has more than enough hookers and blow to go around.... I saw it in a movie once :p
