The New WCHA 2, The Electric Boogaloo (2013-14)

Lengthy article in the Anchorage rag today about the Alaska pairing. Cobb had some choice words about it. Also mentions that UAA will have a heftier financial burden on travel, and the 2015 F5 will be at the X.

Holy hell... Ferris State is the defending national champion? How drunk was I?

Out of the box idea... Why don't WCHA cities, lead by the Alaska schools, set up fundraisers and ask all the fans who find the idea of screwing playoff integrity appaling to pay for the trip.

And to Mavsfan, I was just pointing out that your comment that USHL cities do have quite a bit of connection to the WCHA. Wasn't saying it was an amazing idea, saying its not as crazy as you made it sound. I was thinking that the USHL lined up better geographically with the WCHA than it does when actually looking at all the cities.

At this point, I wish they would just agree on a format for the short term. It can be tweaked after trying it for a year or two.

Re: The New WCHA 2, The Electric Boogaloo (2013-14)

Of note: Forrest Karr works for NMU now, I don't know who submitted UAF's vote.

I've enjoyed Bronconick's posts because I've always felt that WMU's hockey program was very similar to NMU, and I've respected the opinions from most (if not all) WMU fans even after the NCHC fiasco. If only the Whioux and Pios fans were as gracious with their opinions.

Maybe you should take your BS to the thread meant to talk about your school, or you can just go **** yourself, either way works.
I'm just happy to see him add something to this discussion. Unlike butthurt posts like this.

Well ...

"Many things are going to be budget decisions instead of hockey decisions, at least initially,'' Cobb said.

I guess that means UAH needs to drop a nice travel number on everyone. I'd be curious to know what the UAA and UAF subsidy numbers are. I doubt we'll have to pony up that much---I don't think everyone's going to want to make Huntsville a fly date---but it would provide a nice ceiling.

A. What was he supposed to do, vote against his new employer?
I get that. Maybe a nice token vote against it to show some unity would've been good.

So why don't they just have total geographical pairings? I mean the UP is kinda far away for everyone so let's make Tech, NMU, and LSSU play each other with the lowest placed team traveling. Minnesota is pretty north, Mankato and Bemidji should have to pair up. And Michigan and Ohio? Too far east, better make Bowling Green and Ferris pair up.

I agree, and I suspect if Forrest hadn't left it would have been 7-2. I know UAF administration was against this as well.

I am curious if UAF has the same travel cost "arrangement" that UAA will have.

It's not a discussion that you should have any part of, but its still quite comical that you imply that you actually bring something useful to it.

You also seem very oddly fascinated with that word. Do you have cock-induced anal fissures again?

Only Bowling Green and Ferris State are within a reasonable bus trip, while keeping within the NCAA 48 hour rule, unless travel is done during a break period. It's a flight for LSSU, NMU, Tech, Bemidji and Mankato as well as the Alaskas.

WHY DO WE KEEP BRINGING THIS UP, why do I come in hear to read the same **** argument over and over again, if someone doesn't know that, just let them be naive. I'm sick of you pointing out that UAH is too far to drive within the NCAA 48 hour rule. I don't think anyone else cares anymore either.

It would be interesting to see what the "magic" number would be since the number being thrown out there for Anchorage is $15000. I just went out to Travelocity and did a little quick, unscientific research on flights. For Huntsville, I also looked at Nashville and Atlanta as they are "driveable". The dates I used were October 11 departure and October 14 return.

MSP to Huntsville: $260 (surprised me)
MSP to Atlanta: $341
MSP to Nashville: $415

Detroit to Huntsville: $460
Detroit to Atlanta: $290
Detroit to Nashville: $198

For comparison
Detroit to Anchorage: $776
Detroit to Fairbanks: $891

MSP to Anchorage: $616
MSP to Fairbanks: $836

I'd also keep in mind that you have to add at least $100 per ticket for equipment/baggage fees.
