The whole thing makes me laugh. UND/DU set out to create some "super" conference but instead of Notre Dame they got their redneck cousins from St. Cloud. This announcement is kind of like Randy Quaid showing up in the motor home in Christmas Vacation. :)

So the BHHC booted the 4 WCHA bottom feeders and replaced them with...a WCHA bottom feeder and a CCHA bottom feeder.

Progress, no doubt.

Unless we hear that Notre Dame is a slam dunk to join the B1G, today's announcement is still a good day for the NCHC. Eight programs give the league stability and SCSU was always on the NCHC short list. It was President Potter who almost screwed the pooch for them.

Why on earth does the NCHC need stability? Are any of those original 6 programs worried about folding? nope. Are any of those 6 likely to move to some other conference in the future? nope. Then why do you need 8 programs for stability? You supposedly got 6 great like-minded programs and now you're claiming they need more for stability?

Personally, I see it as Faison, Alberts, and Bradley-Doppes screwed the pooch. They bet it all and got SCSU and WMU, two perennial NCAA Tournament powerhouses!

Check your facts buddy. If you wanna call one of the two a bottom feeder in the WCHA over the last decade, tUMD has been below. tUMD was a last-minute add-on, and so was SCSU. And it doesn't matter... the record books will indicate that SCSU started playing NCHC hockey at the same time as UND and DU.

Considering all the mayhem in the BCS, I say that the NCHC were ahead of the curve.
