Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Those overage Canadians beat your balls off, 9-0 and 7-3 in the '68 WCHA playoffs in the DU Arena. The truth of Minnesota's position was: we don't want to play overage Canadians BECAUSE THEY'LL BEAT OUR BALLS OFF. We'll cloak our hypocricy and cowardice in high minded rhetoric. But the truth of the matter is, we really want to hang on to our balls.

While DU was winning games(not growing the game locally) in the 60's Minnesota was using their own state players growing the game of ice hockey(what local Colorado people call it.) by using 18 to 22 year old students just like all the other sports in the Big Ten. It paid off handsomely. I can't fault other schools like DU and UND's path. I disagree with it because after all we are from the state of hockey.

We were raised
With the stick
And a pair of blades
On the ice we cut our teeth
We took our knocks
In the penalty box
Our mother was the referee

This sport was here
Before we came
It will be here when we're gone
The game's in our blood
And our blood's in the game
Lay us down under
A frozen pond

We will fight to the end
We will stand and defend
Our flag flying high and free
We were born the child
Of the strong and Wild
In the State, the State of Hockey

A big blue line runs around our state
A line that can't be crossed
The day they try to take this game
Is the day the gloves come off

We will fight to the end
We will stand and defend
Our flag flying high and free
We were born the child
Of the strong and Wild
In the State, the State of Hockey.

Or an Alabama bacon wrapped meatloaf for Donna Simpson for that matter.
Paid $200 for a rail seat for the first home game of the Wild. Took the day off to show up early. And then I heard that dam song. I wanted to slit someone's throat with a Bic Lighter. Yeah, it'd take some time, but that was the point. Horrible, horrible song. I don't even have the words to describe how bad it is...

Mmmmmmm, Kool Aid. Me like. Just remember: beat your balls off. Beat your balls off and make you thank us.

You came on to me, dammit. You want your pictures back?

You leave her out of this. She's a lifer and she'll cut your heart out.

Of course she is, I understand friend... Let's start with discussing your attic visits with her a couple months ago. I know it was traumatic and I understand you're angry, but do you remember any details at all?

Only 9-0 and 7-3.

And that's the reason DU fans were cheering for the Canadians in 1980, and Minnesota fans were enjoying the Miracle on Ice.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

In all fairness, the invariant last season for UND was the Mac curse. I tried to tell you...

I highly doubt winning the MacNaughton had anything to do with Hunwick playing the game of his life last season. If it did, then perhaps that's why UW, UMN, DU, CC, UND, UNO, and UMD are leaving the conference in a couple years.

Oh come on, Hakstool always chokes at the FF. Why would last year be any different.

it will be interesting to see if they always put the best B10 and Super league teams in the same regional to protect the Eastern teams.
