The new Super League is going down the tubes.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

What? Why did no one dare cross that line? Does Bruce have photos of the SCSU puppy and the MSUM steer "gettin' busy"?

Or were they all afraid to fall on the wrong side of one of the many decisions from McLeod that left teams, fans, coaches, administrators, and even media asking ... "What the ... "

Threaten fines for a discussion?

Did Bruce forget that conference agreements all have "out" clauses? Seems that now two, no five, no, a total of SEVEN teams remembered it.

Buh-bye Bruce. And you can keep all Shepherd ... all of them.

So basically of McLousy resigned, none of this would have happened......

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

for future reference ... the new "super" league is to be referred to .... The National. is there no end to the arrogance?

if ND doesn't join The National  I would think there are going to be some second thoughts about this whole thing.

No. The arrogance is just starting.

Once word gets out how easy it is to make Tech fans blow a gasket, USCHO.com is going to have to add more servers.

Yeah, abandonment is an easy way to **** us off...I'd like to see you explain how UNO, UMD and Miami are big names that will draw at DU? Do you really think you'll get the B1G schools to come to Colorado regularly? Enough to convince your season ticket holders to continue to renew?

DU could be in a conference with the Red Wings and Bruins, it wouldn't matter. Magness would still be empty.

I could explain this to you, but would you even bother to read it?

Six teams announced a new conference yesterday. Each school had different motivations, but its safe to say that replacing Tech, UAA, MSU-M & SCSU with Miami and getting extra home dates with the other conference schools is going to increase attendance and reduce season ticket "no-shows" at DU, CC & UNO.

I suspect that UND, Miami & Duluth were motivated by recruiting concerns.

Another comment without any supporting facts or evidence. DU had over 100 straight sellouts from 2004-2008.

DU has been in the Top 10 in college hockey attendance every year since they opened Magness Arena in 1999.

DU had several (guessing around 10 or so) sellouts last season. Mostly against premium opponents.

While I disagree with most everything you've posted/said in the last week, I always bother to read it. And trust me, it's a bother.

Awesome! You guys are like the best fans ever! What happened in 2009?

EDIT: You don't have to answer that. Clearly those great DU hockey fans quit selling out the arena because they got tired of playing SCSU and Mankato at home.

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

hahaha! is Magness ever "full" as compared to "sold out"? no.
Magness is full for the "big" games. Trust me, I've been at the ticket windows many times in recent seasons when people have driven up on a Saturday afternoon with cash in their hands and they have been turned away.

DU made the decision to leave the WCHA. While I agree with the decision, I nor any other poster had any input or influence.

I'm trying to help you understand why they left. Clearly you aren't happy with the decision, nor should you be. But at the end of the day, it was soooooo predictable. Scooby, Swami and tons of other astute posters called it the moment Sconnie & Goldie left.

Time to move on.

I don't see what anyone being unhappy has to do with your empty arena.

I could care less if the Colorado schools left, UND (taking UMD with them) is the one that sucks and will continue to bother me. It was easy to see this happening to some extent eventually but I was hoping we'd at least try the Final Five without the B1Gs and see how it went for a year or 2...

Re: The new Super League is going down the tubes.

I am not so sure that UMD leaving the WCHA is going to work out so great for them. I could be wrong.

I am biased of course, but if UMD stayed with the WCHA, they could have possibly hosted the conference tournament. Travel costs would stay in check as geographicly they would be the best posistioned. They would be the big dog in the conference and be in the running for an auto bid every year. Add NMU into the mix and the WCHA looks pretty good. I wish all of the MN schools excluding the Gophers would have stayed together. The in-state rivalries would have strengthened and flourished.

There is a lot of should of, could of scenarios. Scary times.

I totally agree with this. I thought they would see how it went and then make a decision. This timeline shocked me as well.

Notre Dame and the Versus situation probably put the departure into hyper-drive.

And I've wondered if UMD isn't thinking even bigger than this. UNO finally got permission to go full DI in Nebraska. I'm wondering if that isn't in the long-range plans for UMD in Minnesota.

I read your posts...Without Notre Dame, I think DU will still struggle with attendance. DU will have 10-14 NC games to fill so you keep the gold rush(2), unless you want to schedule opponents at or below the level of the leftovers, you're not getting more than 6 other home games a year...and its more likely those games will be with RPI, St Lawrence, Merrimack than BC, Wisconsin, Michigan...You'll probably be replacing Tech, UAA, MSUM, SCSU with Miami, RPI, Cornell, Penn State...I don't see how that really helps DU all that much, considering DU probably never hosted MTU, UAA, MSUM and SCSU all in the same season.

Notre Dame is very important component of this for DU.

Especially from the academic and prestige point of view.
