Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

I miss the old WCHA and CCHA.

Why did a few people think they had to fix it when it wasn't even broken.
It was broken when the B1G was formed, the CCHA was decimated and the WCHA stayed too long with the Commish
The old WCHA was the Class of College Hockey and will always be held in high regard.

Those CC, Duluth and Omaha fans really filled the Target Center. St Cloud overwhelmed the place. Did they fill a whole bus with the Denver & Miami fans. They are lucky North Dakota squeaked out a quarterfinal win or there would have been nobody there.

You really can't get over it can you.

About as many as Denver & Miami brought to the Target Center.

The old WCHA tourney was filled with 45% Sioux fans, 45% gopher fans and 10% other teams fans. So what is your point about those other schools not bringing fans? I am sure the conferences knew that especially since SCSU and UMD did not make it.

You need to get over it. The BIG Ten teams left, once that happened things had to change. You act like UND, DU and CC wanted Minnesota and Wisconsin to leave. The old league was much better and most fans would agree, but there's no going back now.

The NMU and MTU fans have been whining about this for almost 2 years now. If their programs had been more competitive and sold more tickets over the past 20 years, they would have been invited instead of WMU and St. Cloud and we wouldn't have heard a peep.

More changes are coming. Give it a year maybe two of airfares.

Neither wanted to be nor did either explore the NCHC.

The year Minnesota didn't make it, their fans didn't show. Last year when UND lost on Thursday, their fans all went home. Attendance always depends on who is playing.

Actually we are quite happy now, see you in the tourney in the next couple years

I can't imagine that either would have turned down such an invitation and I don't know how they would have "explored" it in the first place. This wasn't a deal where you knocked on the door and asked to be let in.

I don't think both of the schools would have taken an invitation.

You're the most bitter bear of all the butt hurt WCHA Fans. We get it you're mad.

SCSU doesn't fly any more now than they use too. They always flew to the Colorado schools an Alaska. The travel is better going to western and Miami over Texh and Alaska. Going to UNO is no different than going to BSU. It sounds like Morzko and Hastings are going to schedule some stuff going forward so they will play Mankato quite a bit any way as well. The NCHC schools will be fine.

Don't get me wrong I don't think things should have changed either, but they did and we all need to move on. Hell it sounds like the Alaska schools are happy now. Ferris and Mankato are doing well.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

As a Lake Superior Stater, I'm glad St Cloud back doored the rest of what was left of the WCHA. It was going to be St Cloud (we're committed, we're staying), Bemidji, Mankato, Tech, Northern and Anchorage until Notre Dame told the NCHC they weren't worthy. Then the NCHC invited St Cloud, whom they previously had no interest in. And because St Cloud followed Gasparini to the promised North Dakota party, that left the WCHA with 5 teams and now it found room for LSSU, whom it previously had no interest in, Ferris, Fairbanks, Bowling Green and had a spot left for Huntsville. The "NEW" WCHA wasn't put together because it's a beautiful business arrangement. It was the only option.

The only real effect it had on the Alaska schools was that all four of their games are now conference. Their travel is the same and Fairbanks costs are actually somewhat reduced. And Huntsville is happy to have a home.
