Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

Even then? Is that really all that odd when the old WCHA had 1 eastern team, 1 other mountian team and 1 alaskan school...not really.
And how many playoff series did Tech and Anchorage host over the past 13,14 years? Not a whole lot.

Exactly, it basically comes down to DU going to CC when they didn't host, and the odds are far more likely they went to Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, SCSU, UMD, etc.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

Pitts' goal was better than Kossila's, but should probably have beaten it by about a 2 to 1 vote ratio. And Cook's should have beaten Grimaldi's by a 3 to 1 ratio. :D

Please get your fellow SCSU fans to flood the ballots this morning for Murray's goal. A few of my friends and I did a bracket challenge and I need Murray to beat out Zombo. :)

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

My prediction that just about anybody can or would win the conference tourney is looking pretty good right about now.

Not gonna be us, obviously.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

Interesting situation. No matter what happens tomorrow at the Ralph all four teams going to the Target Ctr have to win out. Amazing that Sioux are in that spot as good as they've been playing. I think Miami will give them a serious run for their money.

Are you basing that off of simulations? Without running any of my own, I have to think that a win tomorrow for UND gives them a chance at an at-large bid, a win in the semi gives them a decent chance, and a tournament championship would move them into position even without the autobid.

I just think it will be hilarious if the inaugural tournament features CC, DU, Western and Miami. What would the avg. attendance per game be in such a scenario, 2k? I think Ridder Arena is probably open, maybe they could move the tournament there :P

Just using the computer in my head. UND sitting at 14 in PWR a loss tomorrow and their done. A loss to Miami and their done. Yes?

I'm not a PWR numbers guy; also just using the computer in my head. But I don't necessarily agree that a win tomorrow and a loss in the semi eliminates them. It could, but other games are being played as well. Probably a question better posed in the PWR thread, but my home-grown computer says if UND wins tomorrow they could still make the tournament if they lost in the semi, depending on what happens across the rest of college hockey.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

By my math, a UND win and Vermont loss moves UND to 12th tomorrow. If they lost to Miami in the semifinal, they'd likely lose some ground, and the line at for at-large teams drops to 14(AH and NCHC autobids). It would be very, very close depending on how all the other bubble teams do.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

UND would also have a chance to win the 3rd place game. All moot without a win tomorrow though.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

If CC manages to win tomorrow, will arena staff outnumber fans at the Target Center next weekend?

Of course they would have. At least now UND will fill it about half-way up, not much contribution from the other teams.

Best scenario I can see is UND goes on to win and is a 4th seed, playing Minnesota in Minnesota's (always) home ice. Beating CC 3x this year did nothing for UND's RPI, as some of you may note. And why is that.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

I wouldn't hand UND the NCHC banner just yet,the teams left can beat any team playing right now.

While NoDak certainly has the upper hand, all four of these teams have beaten each other (h2h records):

Denver:
v. WMU 3-1
v. Miami 2-2
v. UND 1-1

WMU:
v. Denver 1-3
v. Miami 4-0
v. UND 1-3

Miami:
v. WMU 0-4
v. Denver 2-2
v. UND 1-3

NoDak:
v. WMU 3-1
v. Miami 3-1
v. Denver 1-1

Draw what conclusions you want, should be a great Frozen Faceoff (hate that name).

FTR, many had UND in St Paul for the past few weeks, as a 3 or 4 seed. The big debate was about the other area schools (SCSU, WI), and possibly MI.

All you guys have fun at the frozen faceoff. It's been a fun season. The visiting fans we had here were great.

Re: The NCHC: Just be glad its NaCHo League

All the hockey music this weekend and Jan has no one to dance with, sad clown face.
