What's the movie you're referring to?

Wild. About hiking the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada. Fabulous country, but risk factors that make a family member or friend uncomfortable.

"The Hostel" uncomfortable, or "127 Hours" uncomfortable?

No, he did it a couple of weeks before the finale. James was just horrible. He couldn't even throw to a commercial break without stammering. Granted, he isn't a polished late night host, but there are a bare minimum of things he should be able to do.

That's odd, since Corden hosts panel shows in the UK, so it's not like he hasn't done stuff like this before.

Haven't seen either of them, but from what I read on Wiki, I'd agree with Brent.

But thanks for putting both of them in my head.

No problem :D

Do not, do not, do not see Hostel. It's the second-most unredeeming POS I've ever had the misfortune to sit through. The first I'm not even going to name since chances are nobody's ever heard of it and I want it to stay that way.

Watched Last King of Scotland. Had to cover my eyes for the last torture scene. Very good, though. Now I need to watch a Reese Witherspoon movie or something.

My buddy and I laughed our way through Hostel...just so pathetic and horrible. I mean it wasnt Saw level terrible (Cary Elwes hamming it up was hilarious though in Saw) but wow.

Hostel makes Saw look like Hamlet. At least with Saw there was a purpose and a degree of humanity to the characters; I'd even call it a good movie (with lots of problems). Hostel is just torture porn -- there's nothing of value in it.

Just out of curiosity, what sort of experience does she have with such things? A good test run for something like that is the ~80 miler through the Weminuche Wildnerness. It's a real pain in the *** but the sort of thing that should be tackled before one tries something like the PCT, though the PCT does have ample "outs" that the Weminuche thru-hike doesn't.

She has no experience with long hikes, though she does day-long hikes when she can. She's doing the Lycian Way hike in southern Turkey this April, which is about 300 miles. Very mountainous terrain down there, but it sounds like Weminuche would be more like the Sierra and Cascade hiking she would encounter in the PCT. I will mention it to her, but the problem is she lives in Istanbul most of the year, so it's hard to replicate the kind of terrain she will encounter in PCT. 2016 is a long way off, so maybe the plan will get scrapped after some shorter hikes. She's an adult, so the decision is hers to make, but it wouldn't hurt my feelings any if she dumped that plan and decided to go on some two-mile walks with her dad instead. Any longer than that and we would need oxygen and a support team.

Went into the vault and finally watched Shane. Solid movie.

Watched Jersey Boys last night and enjoyed it. Surprised to learn about Joe Pesci's history with The Four Seasons.

Eastwood shows his versatility as a director, especially when you consider the acting roles that made him famous.

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

I liked Jersey Boys but it was too long. Eastwood could have taken out about 15 minutes and I think it would have flowed better.
