Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

I think MM is funny and I really enjoyed her in Bridesmaids and Identity Thief, but of the 4 total movies I've seen her in, she seems to play the same character.

Her humor is losing it's impact on me.

Wait, you mean the "I'M FAT AND EXTREMELY LOUD! LAUGH AT ME!" routine has a shelf life?

I know Dumb and Dumber To isn't supposed to be cinematic greatness, but it's going to be horrendously awful. I'm watching Dumb and Dumber right now and most of the bits are from them not having any common sense, yet in the trailer for the sequel they're depicted like they're mentally handicapped. I just can't see that movie working when the characters aren't even the same.

It seems to be a trend with broad comedies these days that many of them will make early Adam Sandler movies look subtle and nuanced by comparison.

The sequel may indeed prove awful, but this seems like a distinction without a difference. :)

eh, I don't know. They were pretty **** close to mentally handicapped in the first one too. :p

I have no hope for the d&d sequel and can't imagine that I'll see it unless it gets good reviews.

That said, I've rarely, if ever, laughed as hard during a movie as I did during certain scenes of the first movie the first time I saw it. There were points that I couldn't get a breath.

Maleficent - Oh look! An epic fantasy presented the way it should be. Loved it and can forgive the Disney-ish (see spoiler below in white text) aspects of it as it's... well... a Disney movie.

No stilted dialogue. No over the top wacky action sequences - the battles were good and actually followed the laws of gravity. Thought the cgi was very good.

Actually had some heart too.

I believe that the IMDB rating of 7.1 is fair although I'd give it an 8.

The neat and tidy ending.

Wreck It Ralph.

All the awesome. All of it.

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

Also watched The Lego Movie and remember what it was like to trip. ;)

What a wackadoo movie.

Liked aspects of it - didn't love it overall.

Some of it hit home as Legos were my favorite toy growing up and I was (am) quite good with them. It was VERY difficult letting go and allowing my kid to "screw things up" when he would play with them.

He never took to them though - and no, not because of me. He was never into hardly any toys. Only ever wanted electronics. It's just a different time now.

I could have gone pro in Legos. Seriously.

Wreck it Ralph rules.

"You hit a guy, with glasses. That's... that's well played."

Re: The Movie Thread: New, Rented, Whatever....I don't care

Saw Big Hero 6. I liked it but it was, at times a bit much for my 5 year old.
