The Michigan OT Goal

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

streaker -
Interesting statement: "funny how it hasn't transferred into the playoffs." That's the thing that has me, as well as many UNO fans scratching their heads. I understand that many of these upperclassmen are from Kemp's recruiting class, but they aren't slouches. Blais has brought in some great underclassmen, but your statement is right on. The last two years we have been on hot streaks to end the year, but then we run into Lake Superior last year, and Bemidji this year. Teams that really shouldn't be an issue for UNO. It just seems like when we need a really big win, in a crucial time at the end of the year, we just can't get over that hump. Hopefully that can change in the future....starting to look like my other favorite team, the Jayhawks. Having the same problem.

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

The picture showing white between the puck and the line is an optical illusion, based on the angle of the photo, the lighting, and the reflection of the underside of the goalie's pad. No Goal.

Lol. Keep telling yourself that if it makes it better to sleep at night.

Good grief, time to move on.

Was it a bad call? Yes

Did the refs convince themselves that the puck had to be across the line? Probably

Maverick hockey fans have moved on, time for others to move on as well

U!N!O! fans can say that they`ve moved on, until they play Michigan again and act in the exact same newbie/ "woe is me" manner. Defining their level of fandon my how much they hate Michigan (or insert another team here). Hanging their hat on an upset 11 years ago. Rick sees a bigger picture, he has vision. I wish others would follow his lead.

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

gomavs#1, at least Kansas hoops has earned respect thru decades of success. You also have a national championship from less than 5 years ago to hang your hat on. kansas has also win the big 12 something like 5 years in a row. How many conference titles does U.N.O. have?? KU hoops is way way above the level of UNO hockey

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

billmich - agreed very much on many points. Although, and I agree with your assessment of MavRick - he does have a vision - it truly doesn't matter what the fan base's vision is - the players/coaching staff are what counts. I also agree very much that the tradition of KU basketball (our former coach invented the game after all!), isn't comparable to that of UNO. I just mentioned it because both teams (though Kansas did have the NC in 2008) have struggled in the postseason against very beatable teams (not talking about Michigan here - talking about the Beavers and Ferris St.). And after the dust settled, hopefully UNO fans can see that the Michigan game was a very good back and forth (although more Michigan controlled the final two periods) hockey game.

Can you imagine if they had called it "no goal?" The flood of Michigan tears would have left a high spot on the rink. They'd have taken the off ramp to Boo Hoo City. The right call ultimately was made. Give Dean Blais and UNO a tip of the cap. No whining, no crying, no complaints. The simply handled it with class.

Seems like a pretty large stretch. Odds would be that the reviews would not have been gone over except for a very few, and doubtful anyone would listen to them, anyway. It's not as if the puck was in the back of the net and then called a no-goal- play went on until a break, THEN it was looked at.

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

All in all you're not an official. None of us here are (at least NCAA D-1 officials), therefore we must succumb to their expertise. It was a goal, end of story.

Congrats, this is by far the stupidest post of the whole thread. And while that's saying something, 'cause you edged yourself out with that Faulkner's BF crap, your logic is because the refs said it was a goal, then it MUST have been. So by that logic, they MUST have gotten the call right in the Miami game last year. Yeah, they got the call right, props to them, but by your logic in this post, you've just prevented yourself from ever complaining about the refs ever again. You won the game and in the process allowed us to realize that you have no credibility whatsoever, so thanks for the heads-up.

And this is not a shot at anybody else from Michigan, again, as others have said, it seems to be an issue of this isolated poster.

Re: The Michigan OT Goal

You know, I don't really care about MI. However, due to UMICH and bill whatever, they are not representing MI very well. AGREE WITH US OR PERISH? You know what? * y'all. Yep, tArrogance coming about, but still, there is a point to be made. Some of us don't think the refs were correct in overturning it. Oooo big whoop. Doesn't mean we don't think MI was the better team, nor do we think MI wouldn't have won it eventually anyway. We just disagreed with how the refs ruled in that instance, per the NCAA rules, and our views.

But as the oh-so-self-proclaimed-genius UMICH said, "Haters gonna hate." Look in the mirror, Scooter. Yes, indeed, haters are gonna hate.

And tell your band to learn another song, and I might even cheer for MI. ;)

i hardly believe i have had a "agree with us or perish" mentality. Haven`t posted any links to videos or anything like that.

I agree, although I'm sick of people rooting against Michigan all of the time because we have a positive history.

Did I ever complain about the call last year? Show me a link? Look at all of the uno posters chanting "Death to wolvie" around here. You need to look at this from both perspectives...
