Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Does anybody know if the radio broadcasts for the games are going to be available online this year?

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Coach Roque was on the morning show on Oldies 93 this morning, and he said he has not heard about the Superior Cup ending. In fact, he said they already have plans in place to travel next year to play in it (can't remember if he said it would be at Tech or Minn-Duluth).
If they were to play the Superior Cup again next season, I assume the Lakers and Northern would each play at both Tech and Minn-Duluth, trading opponents each of the two nights. That's how it's been done in the past.

Games will stream live on YES FM. Also, the plan as of now is that the Laker Hockey Show (most likely on Monday nights) will be done live in studio, not at Moloney's Alley, as it has been the past few years. Being in studio will allow the show to accept live phone calls from listeners on the radio and listeners on the Internet.

As for the pre-game show, it will be a half-hour this year. The first period intermission will have a live locker room interview with either Coach Roque or a player between the first and second periods, while the second intermission will have a "get to know your Lakers" segment.

Will this Saturday's exhibition game be broadcast?

Last year after the first game they got on the bus back to Houghton if memory serves me right Bill. So they only stayed at one town.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

So who are we expecting in net tomorrow? Maybe all three guys for a period each since it's an exhibition game?

I believe the Lakers played Duluth on sunday not saturday that is why they stayed friday night in Houghton. The ccha teams play at both wcha barns and vice versa.

Will be intersting to see what the coaches try to do this weekend. Do they play the probable regulars to get ready for the high powered Duluth team next weekend or do they play the walk-ons and bubble players to get them some playing time. A little bit heavier roster this year means more decisions when it comes to playing time but that is probably a good thing.

Lakers drop exhibition game 5-4. Some very shaky defense in front of BMW. If defense doesn't improve, the Lakers won't finish higher than 9th.

Nice to see that the attendance was 2,100. Hope we can get more seats filled next weekend.

Was it strictly a case of poor defensive coverage, or did BMW look a bit shaky also? Either way, giving up 5 goals on 16 shots doesn't cut it. Given the large shot differential, it sounded like the Lakers controlled the bulk of the play.

Surprising that some of the key freshmen didn't play.

According to Crawford, it seemed like poor defensive coverage. I think the losses of Gysbers and Kaunisto is showing right now.

Also I think the flu bug is hitting the team right now. BMW was the only goalie tonight as K2 and Ravn wasn't there to back him up. I don't what would of happened if Brian had any injury or illness.

I was only able to catch part of the broadcast and didn't hear the bit about the flu going around. That would help explain the lineup.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

What an utterly pathetic performance the Lakers put on tonight...I don't know how Bill made it sounds on the radio but gosh they played awful in the first two periods..parts of third period were okay at best. The shot total didn't tell the story at all... we had over 35 shots but other than a couple posts and a whiff on a one-timer we had no quality scoring chances in the interior aspects of the zone...all 4 goals came from the point... the defense was for the most part atrocious, missed assignments, turnovers, poor positioning...BMW didn't play well either, he clearly would have benefitted from better defense in front of him but in my opinion at least 3 goals would qualify as "soft". The flu bug is the only excuse I will accept as reasonable for Campbell, Lain and the rest of the freshmen not dressing in favor of players who will likely not play more than a regular season game or two....Roque also could have pulled BMW 20-25 seconds before he did in the closing minute, it was obvious that even BMW thought he should have been heading to the bench earlier, Hobbins looked out of place and slow ...As for the (few) bright spots I thought the line of Acton-Schofield-Monardo played well together, Monardo was the best Laker on this ice tonight, the fact that he scored 2 goals aside....Power also looks to have improved considerably and appears to be more eager to shoot now than he was last year and Perrault was one of the top 2 performing D-men with the other being Trotman which is a good sign for the freshmen.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

MI Tech will be a big test for this team.Tech has been picked 12th year in and year out and if beating them doesn't happen,a very long season again.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Radke and Jean had some nice chemistry going in the third period. I was looking forward to seeing Campbell and Lain play in person. What a bummer. It looked like the Lakers were really takeing Western litely right from the start. I know that the coaching staff has only had one practice but i am still surprised of the lackluster showing from the team last night. To much standing on their skates watching the other team skate around will not get the job done. Hats off to Western though they out worked and out hustled the Lakers and they deserved to win the game.

Anchors i pretty much agree with your input, very good job. Perrault can really fly out there.

I am looking forward to seeing the real Laker Hockey team take to the ice next weekend.

That 5 goals on 16 shots is a little deceiving as at one point in time it was 5 goals on 10 shots. Things looked shaky defensively and it looked like BMW didn't control the rebounds like he should have.

They always pick Tech last. The self-rightheous voters won't give Tech any consideration year in or year out.

The past two years the injury bug has decimated the team.

It can't happen a third year in a row.

The team will score a lot more than years past and we have more than one line.

This should be a fun year to see how the Tech team develops.

Furne, Rix, and Holmberg are freshman who should help the offense.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

First I would like to welcome myself to the "Lake Show" thread. However with Jimbo at the helm it should be entitled the "Lame Show" lol. I've read this fan forum for years and it's amazing how many of you dopes make excuses for this team. Flu, tough schedule, puck luck etc, etc. I've seen them all on here. How bout this one; the Coach can't coach and the players he recruits stink at playing hockey. I and many others here in the Soo can't believe Jimbo is still allowed to "coach" this team. It's time to give Roque and the rest of his Gong Show the boot!
