"The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

A third of the recruits coming in this season are off the Traverse City team. Are the players coming out of there that good or is it a very convenient recruiting base being so close and cost effective.

I would think the recruits off T.C. are solid, and i'm sure it helps that Palumbo is the coach and gets to see lots of players throughout the year, some of which could possibly help the Lakers.

The Heisenburg website has 10 recruits coming in this yr plus Brett Wall coming back. Lots of new faces so there may be a few growing pains unless the goalies start off on the right foot.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Interestingly, Traverse City selected Tyler Marble in the 2nd round of today's NAHL Entry Draft. Given that he only played a handful of games for Traverse City the first part of this past season, he must have gone back on some type of unprotected list and had to be selected again by them if they still had interest in him, which evidently they do. It would also appear to keep alive the possibility of him joining the Lakers after next season as the third goalie once BMW graduates. I think that will still hinge to some degree on whether Marble can develop and improve significantly this next season in Traverse City. He still has to show he can compete at the Junior A level.

Word is that Trotman may be leaving to sign a pro contract....not sure how valid this rumor is but someone did tell me that he expects to be taken in the upcoming NHL entry draft and then will leave to embark on his pro career.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

With Kaunisto and Gysbers graduating I sure hope Trotman comes back for at least one more year.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Soo Greyhounds of the Ontario Hockey League have signed 1992 birth year defenceman Colin Miller, sources close to the family have told RR Media Service.

Miller, a free-agent who won't turn 18-years old until October of this year, had 30 points in 46 regular-season games with the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Jr. Hockey League during the '09-10 season. He then added 14 more points in 14 playoff games.

A graduate of the AAA midget Soo North Stars, the free-wheeling, late-blooming Miller was being wooed by the Division 1 U.S. college Lake Superior State Lakers before choosing to sign with the Greyhounds.

The Greyhounds are expected to announce Miller's signing as early as Friday, according to sources.

Ferris State recently released their 2010-2011 schedule. They will visit us November 12-13.

So far, this is what we know about LSSU's schedule for 2010-2011. They have not yet released their schedule, but Ferris, Bowling Green, NMU, Michigan and Miami have so we know dates of when we play those teams. According to someone, we will be clustered with NMU, Western Michigan, Bowling Green and Miami.

Oct. 8-9 Minnesota Duluth/Michigan Tech
Oct. 15-16 @ Notre Dame (according to 3dognight)
Oct. 22-23 Colgate (according to 3dognight)
Oct. 29-30 @ Miami
November 5-6 NMU
November 12-13 Ferris State
November 19-20 @ Michigan
Nov. 26-27 @ Denver Cup (Air Force, Denver, Clarkson)
December 3-4 Bowling Green

Mid to late December- 2 games @ Ni****ing (exhibition)

January 28-29 @ Bowling Green
February 4-5 @ NMU

February 25-26 Miami

Just like last year, looks like there's a lot of home games early. Also any update on Trotman? It would be a huge blow if he leaves early.

With Western in the same cluster there should be games in the first half also. I would think that means the only available weekend left would be Dec. 10-11.

That can't be right because ND has a home FB game the 16th. If this is the correct "weekend", the games would most likely be Thursday the 14th and Friday the 15th. I thought this series might be the middle of January when I was looking at possibilities...

Thanks for the information. Looks like a better spread of home/road games this upcoming year instead of being bunched up like last year (a lot of home game early, a lot of road games late). It looks like the Lakers will have one of the weaker cluster schedules.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Well it looks like they have a more favorable second half schedulefor the coming year than last year. I didn't see N*****ing. :)

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

The Lakers are planning to have a holiday canadian trip, during that long off period.

I know details are still pending on that multi game trip, but perhaps by the Blueliner / Hall of Fame week Jim will have the scoop.
