"The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

The Lakers must be playing some really weak teams .

The OUA has traditionally been the weak sister in the CIS. There are some decent teams like Western (who beat the Lakers this year), Lakehead and McGill but even those teams do not fare well against the powerhouse teams from both the eastern and western conferences. McGill for example is currently sitting in first place in the OUA with no regulation losses but was crushed 7-1 in a recent exhibition game against the UNB Varsity Reds.

Both Ni****ing and Ottawa are above .500 teams in the OUA East, with Ottawa sitting in 4th and Ni****ing in 5th. Ryerson is in the 8th spot of the ten team East division. York's in dead last in the OUA West division.

Lakers beat Ryerson tonight 3-0. Kapalka got the shutout. Zach Sternberg had two goals and Ben Power had the other goal.

Go Redhawks and Nanooks!

Edit: Miami does not help us at all. They get upset by OSU 1-0. The Lakers have to win their games, plain and simple. They can't depend on other teams to help them out.

Lakers best have some magic rabbits in their hats for the second half of the season. Overall in league play, the Lakers have the fewest wins and unless something remarkable happened between last month and this month,we are going to see a team struggling to make a powerplay work and score enough goals to have a better than 500 record for the last 14 games they play.

Plus Western got 2 points with a shootout win last night.

Exactly. The Lakers need to take care of their own business and then they won't have to count on getting help from other teams.

Not only that, Michigan State got three points last night too. If the Spartans win tonight and get three points, they will sit just one point behind the Lakers heading into next weekend's series.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Lakers need to win 3 out of 4 games the next 2 weekends at home. If that can't be done with the talent Roque says they have, with the we are going to surprise a lot of teams the second half of the season by statements some of the players have made, their season ended in October.

Has any one heard who the two new verbals are that the coach got while in canada ? It sure sounded like jim is excited about them, one is a possible replacement for Schofield.

I think Roque needs to get excited about the last 14 games and get a fire going in his players to start winning or it will be another bottom finish.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

I think the Lakers need a minimum of 8-9 points from the MSU and WMU home series if they hope to get home ice in the 1st round of the CCHA playoffs. 12 points would be great; anything less than 8-9 would be just treading water (or worse).

It sounds like Roque shuffled the lines a bit during the Canadian exhibition tour and plans to stick with them now (depending upon injuries/illness of course)

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Roque has to go.. Six years and his team still has no idea how to work a powerplay or score. Kapalka must be sorry he decided to go with Lake State. The guy is the only player on the team who gives the team a chance to win. I thought Scofield was going to be the big playmaker. The guy does nothing to win games . Roque needs to be let go after this season is over . The best two years Roque even had, were with teams that Anzalone developed . The Lakers played five games over the holidays and yet they are worn out.

The Lakers played the 10th place Spartans well for two periods, holding them at 0-0. A couple of good bounces for the Lakers and that third period would have been much different. The grueling road trip against tremendous Canadian opponents over the break, where they went 5-0 probably had some lingering affects. And you had key guys like Radke, Power and Barchuk out of the lineup and a team that is just snake bitten with injuries.

I expect a turnaround performance by this team and this coaching staff tomorrow night. Despite the Lakers only a point out of 10th place, a win tomorrow and two more next weekend against Western Michigan and then probably sweeping a good Bowling Green team puts them right back in the drivers seat for a top four finish and a first round bye that people on here were talking about a few weeks ago.

If not we can talk about those recruits for next season anyway and give this coach another year.
