Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Hopefully Bill C.'s got some new cheers ready for this weekend. He should use one I came up with; give me an M, give me a Y, give me an H, give me an E, give me an R, and give me an O, what does it spell ROQUE, ROQUE, ROQUE!!!

I knew you would come around, Boots. Nice job.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

We were all impressed with their play last Saturday. They seemed to show up to play; they reminded me of the team who played Minn-Duluth. If that team shows up it will be a fun season. I have been to 4 of the home games so far and have been very surprised at the poor officiating in each game. Saturday on several occasions I saw different Laker players looking over their shoulders to see if they were going to be penalized; in my mind this when the officials have taken over the game. Generally speaking I expect a game to be called even, which hasn't been done yet. While there are many aspects of a team scoring or not scoring; I believe the officials have cost the Lakers a goal in a couple of games, one costing them a win. One would hope the officiating will improve as the season continues. Go Blue!
Haven't we all heard this stale old excuse about a million times. Seems Crawford has only been bellyaching about the officiating since the advent of FM. It's the CCHA, the officiating sucks, get over it. Instead of worrying about officiating the fans can try to figure out why the Laker players get worse with age or why they are so exhausted by the third period. Thank you and your welcome for my, as usual, thoughtful insight.

Tried not to be to harsh in the predictions this weekend, but have to be honest, I feel the Lakers are just going to be outplayed, I think I give a decent reason why:

Best of luck to the Lakers, would be interested in them proving us wrong.

Acton is out with mono, possibly for as long as a month. Big loss for the Lakers. The other guys need to suck it up and fill the void.

Sound quality is terrible on the pre-game show.

Lakers' second-leading scorer, out at Miami...great.

6 goals on 21 shots? Unacceptable. Was Beamer really that bad? On the bright side, good job on the Lakers defense for allowing Miami just 21 shots on goal and congrats to Zach Sternberg for his first collegiate point.

Heartbreaking loss in Miami tonight. I can understand them losing and all because Acton wasn't in the lineup. With him in there the Lakers would have won for sure. It also bull crap that guys like Perkovich and Jakitas aren't allowed to be on the team anymore. Everything is just sooooooooo stacked against our poor Lakers and there under appreciated coach Jim Roque. Maybe with the brilliant recruiting efforts by world class assistant coaches Rich Metro and Tim Christian the Lakers can start to turn things around by 2019. We just need to hang in there and be patient. I know you Lakers can win tomorrow. You guys just need to give it your all. You can do it!

There were a few good things. As you said, they held Miami to 21 shots which is very good. Miami probably cruised somewhat after leading 5-0 after the 2nd, but still the Lakers kept the shots down. The Lakers only took a few penalties which is also is something they needed to do to give themselves a chance.

On the other hand, they can't afford to fall behind a team like Miami by two or more goals early in the game, especially on Miami's home ice. And the PP has to do better. Miami likes to play very physical so you know you're going to get PPs against them. You need to be able to capitalize on those PPs to give yourself a decent shot at getting points. 1 for 8 on the PP, and that lone score on a 5 min major, isn't good enough.

I didn't listen to much of the game. The audio was just too bad. I shut down the feed and restarted it a couple of times but the sound quality was still bad. I don't know how much of Miami's offense resulted from defensive lapses vs BMW not playing well enough, but the Lakers can't give up 6 goals to Miami and expect to have any kind of decent chance of winning. I did hear Bill C say that Miami scored on a breakaway off a long pass so someone on D messed up on that one. For the Lakers to beat (or even tie) Miami tonight, they probably need to keep Miami to 2 goals or less (maybe 3), while generating more offense themselves. BMW (or Kapalka if he plays) has to play great in net, and the Laker PP has to be clicking.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

At this point in Boreks career, most on here were calling for his firing. How is it 6 years into Roques coaching and a team that is going nowhere, the voices seem silent on his removal. Wilson in his senior year has been worse than any of his other years. That must have been one hell of a goalie clinic in September to produce no goalies for Lake State . I hope 3dognight doesn't bring that clinic back again. I don't think the goaltenders could stand another one . I think we all have to come to the realization that Lake State has very little talent and a coaching staff that produces very little improvement in players from one year to the next. Enough of excuses. The players need to prove themselves and if they don't,hell, there is always next year.

Miami is going to steamroll a lot of teams this year. This weekend won't tell us about this Laker team as much as the next two weekends.

If the Lakers falter against NMU and FSU, then let the howling begin.

Against Miami? No.

I wholeheartedly agree with you Bill. The Lakers did a heck of a job last night. People that are critical of the Lakers need to realize it's not the wins that matter but the effort. Brian Mahoney-Wilson had 15 big saves for the Lakers last night, not too many goalies could say they can do that. Coach Jim Roque and his assistants also had this team well prepared by the fact they took so few penalties. I can't wait for tonight's contest. The Lakers are gonna really take it to 'em. Go Lakers!

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

BJR (can I call you BJ for short?), you predicted the Lakers were going to lose by ten goals or so, because Miami dismantled the Wildcats the week before.

Looks like you were way off.

Re: "The Lake Show" - LSSU Laker Hockey

Two shots by Miami may have been something for the entire third period but they scored off of just one of those shots.
