The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

Re: The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

Nope.

Whoa. Are you saying you've never seen It's a Wonderful Life?
1. You really should, the original obviously, but the remake(s) are pretty good.
2. Wonderful Life sucks. Worth watching for cultural significance and all, but that "angel" line just pi*es me off something fierce.

Re: The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

You’re not the first person to have that reaction, my calc teacher asked that like ten years ago.

I’ll try and make that the next movie I watch.

It's "A Christmas Carol" with cheesier lines. Yeah, I said it. IMO, George C Scott's version is awesome, because George C. Effin' Scott.

Teacher says that every time a bell rings Brent gets kicked in the nuts. :D

Have not seen 21 and my goodness do the LOTR fanboys need to go play in traffic.

Re: The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

#26 (and falling fast) is The Usual Suspects. So sad to see a classic movie taking a hit because of the actions of one of its stars.

No, #26 is not Union.

It's the most overrated movie of all time.

Re: The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

There are some really, really bad movies on this list, most of which I have seen.

Have not seen the bold:

1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

2. The Godfather (1972)
3. The Godfather: Part II (1974)
4. The Dark Knight (2008)
5. 12 Angry Men (1957)
6. Schindler's List (1993)
7. Pulp Fiction (1994)
8. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
9. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)
10. Fight Club (1999)
11. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
12. Forrest Gump (1994)
13. Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
14. Inception (2010)
15. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)
16. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
17. Goodfellas (1990)
18. The Matrix (1999)
19. Seven Samurai (1954)
20. Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
21. City of God (2002)
22. Se7en (1995)
23. The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
24. It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
25. Life Is Beautiful (1997)

Re: The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

I have not seen the bolded, nor do I care to see that LOR bullsh*. Zero interest.

Fellowship is a good movie. Also: the books are wonderful. I am certain someone will redo the movies someday without all the adolescent gilding.

It's probably just based on amount of fan reaction?

Of course they should have consulted you first. ;)

I was surprised to see all three on this list – not sure I'd put any of them in my top 25, but I've never actually thought about what my top 25 would be.

Same could be said for the Star Wars movies being included and actually more so since they are inferior to LOTR from a movie making standpoint.

I could see A New Hope maybe being included simply for its historical impact both on movie making and pop culture, but not as a great movie when considered in a vacuum.

Re: The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

I'm missing Inception (not sure I've even heard of this movie), City of God, and Life is Beautiful.

Inception is the Nolan time within time within time movie. It's quite good.

Ahem...

Re: The IMDB top 25 - how many have you seen?

If we're being technical, none of these movies deserve to be on a top 25 of all time list other than for $$$. 12 Angry Men might make the top 100 best movies. The Godfather and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly make the top 100 for most fun.

Holy shiat. Not seeing Shawshank is immediate grounds for revoking your man card. But not seeing One Flew, either? Son, I am disappoint.

Only 2 I'm missing are Seven Samurai and Se7en.
