Ronnie must be big mad. Can’t wait to see who he takes it out on

I have some thoughts on this, and here they are (since you totes asked) in no particular order:
  • There's no way these cretins didn't expect Mega Corp Disney to lay down and take this, did they? I know there's no considering for the future in the current GQP, but come on now.
  • At the same time, does DeSantis even care? Everything he does is performative nonsense. He got his headline on this months ago. They owned that woke company! Totally owned those libtards! Who cares about this. Fox will ignore it if instructed to do so and no one outside of those directly impacted or news/politics junkies will ever know about it.

Even if the state fights this, and I'm sure they'll try, Disney can easily sue the oversight board for not including any land owners. As land owners must have some type of vote on decisions impacting them.

Enjoying the tit for tat.

In the excitement of watching a big corporation stick it to the evil government, there was some telling verbage used by the DeSantis board in discussing how they'll fight this: they're going to 'take it all the way to the Supreme Court.'

These *ssholes have stacked the court decks for years with judges, and they know they're so in the wrong that every lower court and lower appeals court will deny them that they're going to take it straight to their hand packed Supreme Court.

Four different firms were retained by the state to chip away at this, and they're going to drag this out with thousands of paper cuts until they get seen by the judges they want.

I blame the dems. Afraid to use their power when in power and then mad when someone else is willing.

Back in the day, when we had a sweep of all three branches and were hovering around 60 Senate seats, we should have cleaned out the rot with a flamethrower, yes. But that was a different Democratic party, compromised by billionaires and transnational corporate donors, and crippled by an ivory tower model of governance as 4-dimensional soft power chess denying its brutal truth as real politic knife fighting and coercion.

But we've learned, right?

Right?

The Supreme Court has to agree to hear the case, and even this crazy court has not been very willing to listen to stupid frivilous cases just because Right Wingers bring them. If it isn't Abortion (and soon to be LGBTQ+ Rights) they actually tend to ignore it. They will ignore this if it ever even gets to them. (it likely won't it will die long before that) This is honestly mostly an overblown nothingburger. Ronny is not going to upset Di$ney too much, they donate quite a bit to his campaigns.

All of this is just Ronny trying to get back some juice after he blinked in the original war with "Woke Di$ney". None of this is actually meant to stop Di$ney it is meant to be a line in a campaign ad. Like the BS about him "fighting the media" where he doctors clips of fights he has with journalists to make him look tough when in actuality it is just him whining like a child when they ask him basic questions. If he actually fought Di$ney he would die so fast it would hurt. This is a company that would sue a charity for showing one of their movies without the proper permission...

Pretty much
Don't want to make anyone mad by actually doing something they don't like. Dems haven't learned that whatever they do, they're gonna get the outrage machine in response, so they might as well do what will have the most positive outcome.

Biden's starting to understand that a little bit, but still wants to remain pals with "his good friends from across the aisle".

I'd agree that Ds need to be ready to go into the corners and use their elbows and sticks more than they are used to doing. Cause a little hurt. But maybe there are other factors that provide partial explanation for their hesitancy to do that. Those amygdala studies published several years ago (and discussed here) showed that conservatives and liberals tend to respond differently to perceived threat. As I recall it, cons are more easily manipulated by fears stoked by demonization, a favorite tactic used for decades by Rs at all political levels. Libs tend not to respond that way, so campaign strategies used to win D votes have not included those tactics as part of the standard arsenal. It just isn't as intuitive for Ds to campaign that way.

Just a thought. burd may be full of it again.

Yeah I was just thinking it is definitely the Dems fault that the GOP is doing all this. Do you guys work for Politico and the NY Times?

Do you guys blame the women who are raped in bad neighborhoods because if they just learned to protect themselves better they would be safe? Cause that is how you sound.

Much love for Kep but he's suffering from the same belief that so many suffer from, and that having the executive branch and both houses of congress means you can do anything you want.

The Dems had a 50/50 Senate majority for two years and they had two ... shall we say ... recalcitrant members who were not on board with everything. And there are more that wouldn't want the elimination of the filibuster. And even more that wouldn't want to add SCOTUS justices. So being mad at the party for not doing some or all of those things ignores the realpolitik we face.

I'm not good at gifs or memes, but can someone do one of that scene from Toy Story where Woody pushes Buzz out the window but DeSantis' face is photoshopped on Buzz? Maybe intermingle it with DeSantis saying "There's a new sherriff in town" and then Woody's line of "There's a snake in my boot"? That would be perfect

Think he's referring to Obama's first term, when they had 60 senators and still didn't pass shit.
