The Generic Racism Thread 1: Lift Every Voice and Sing

OK, Republicans. You asked for unity.

I will proudly belt this out before every Mets and Cornell game. Plus it has a range that a normal human voice can handle.

Well, this is disappointing. At least 1960s racists had the courage of their convictions.

Racist White D-bag said:
“What I did not realize was all of the national conversation about states like Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, was seen as casting doubt on the validity of votes coming out of predominantly Black communities like Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Detroit,” he wrote.

“After decades of fighting for voting rights, many Black friends in Oklahoma saw this as a direct attack on their right to vote, for their vote to matter, and even a belief that their votes made an election in our country illegitimate,” he continued.

You didn't realize...my senile Grandma realized that and she died a decade ago you Klan Wannabe POS. Maybe stop watching Faux News and pay attention cause literally everyone that wasn't a RWNJ was saying exactly that including your constituents.

Someone needs to tape him when he talks to the White part of town so he can be caught backtracking cause they won't let those comments stand.

No idea where to place this otherwise, but I was streaming the Gophers hockey game earlier and wondered to myself how many MAGAs that were watching must have lost their minds when there were back-to-back commercials for birth control and herpes.

When I heard this, I came to two options for him... Can't think of another.

1) he's lying.
2) he's telling the truth, but is so dumb to understand that the rest of the country realized this between Nov 3-4 as some pretty racist complaints about the votes were rolling in all across the country. Which means he's to dumb and clueless to be a Senator.

Either way, he's far from qualified to be running this country.

From my grad school work last week:

Do you think racism should be categorized as a diagnosable mental health condition? Why or why not?

Please defend your answer using the definition of mental disorder from DSM (below) as well as professional experience and personal opinion.

"A clinically significant behavioral or psychological syndrome or pattern that occurs in an individual and that is associated with present distress (e.g., a painful symptom) or disability (i.e., impairment in one or more important areas of functioning) or with a significantly increased risk of suffering death, pain, disability, or an important loss of freedom. In addition, this syndrome or pattern must not merely be an expectable and culturally sanctioned response to a particular event, for example, the death of a loved one. Whatever its original cause, it must currently be considered a manifestation of a behavioral, psychological, or biological dysfunction in the individual. Neither deviant behavior (e.g., political, religious, or sexual) nor conflicts that are primarily between the individual and society are mental disorders unless the deviance or conflict is a symptom of a dysfunction in the individual…" (pp. xxi–xxii in DSM-IV, not TR)

You have to be taught to hate.

And historically, the racism toward black people is rooted in the excuses that slavery that was importing people from Africa was not only ok, but it was a great way to do business. It's interesting to note that a massive amount of the world's racism can be traced back to the UK, and it's acceptance with trading people for profit- US, India, Australia, South Africa, etc.

On MLK day, I remember he criticized white moderates the most often.

Today also, I pray people go beyond quoting him to actually fulfilling his dream.

Agreed. I don't think we want to starting labeling what we disagree with as mentally ill. Sure us forum rubes say these people are mentally ill all the time, but none of us are making a medical assessment. Racism may be a symptom of an underlying condition, it's not a diagnosis. I'm not sure what the symptoms are, how would you make an objective diagnosis, etc. What do you do for unconscious bias?

Do we really want to start 5150ing people for ideologies? What about religion, do we want to start labeling people who believe in an omnipotent being without any proof? What if they're just agnostic? What about if they're Muslim but not Christian? It leads to all sorts of nasty outcomes I don't think we want.

Conversion therapy likely had roots stemming from the fact that homosexuality was considered a mental disorder and it was actually in the DSM. People found the behavior to be morally wrong, but that's the problem. Morality has no place in science.

Believing in the existence of something you can't yet prove is a normal part of the scientific process. Believing that an omnipotent being spoke to you directly or that you are possessed is a symptom of schizophrenia.

Morality has no place in science.

Dr. Mengele heartily agrees with your assertion, especially when your test subject is expendable Untermensch.

Believing in the existence of something you can't yet prove is a normal part of the scientific process.

I would say:

Hypothesizing the existence of something not yet disproved is science. (Altruism)
Hypothesizing the existence of something impossible to disprove is magic. (God)
Hypothesizing the existence of something already disproved is psychosis. (Prayer)

I think every conservative on my socials let me know that Uncle Ben, Aunt Jemima, and Mrs. Butterworth are the only black people they care about.
