The Frozen Four

Re: The Frozen Four

Spitballing here...

What if the team sections were like the student ones at the bouncyball finals? Students/fans could only it for their game in seats behind the net -- visibility for cameras, etc.

then, after the game is done, next team fans come in. This would only be the school allotment tickets. Lowers the ticket crunch situation. Thoughts?

what ratio of ushers/cops do you need to escort all those hockey fans out of the garden? i'm sure in the football stadium the kids were more than welcome to move up to the 500 level for the 2nd game if they desired. in an 18k hockey rink there are not really overflow seating availability to share.

Re: The Frozen Four

Well, if the tickets said "game 1 only," ushers won't allow for game 2 seats. Besides, I don't think an interloper would be welcome. And game 2 tickets can't be let in until game 1 ends -- these would be school tickets, not the general NCAA ones. Worst case is that the g1 fans could have SRO tix for g2.

In 09, where did "excess" bu fans from Beminji sit? I imagine it was nowhere near the rest of the BU fans.

I think of it this way: NCAA has 4 sections of 600 seats for school allotment. This way, they can have only 2 sections, while still trying to have adequate representation. If the ticket says "UNO ticket" and they're bounced by PC, the ticket would be void for the NC game.

BU kids stuffed the upper bowl section above us. If the rows were 20 seats they had 30 standing the whole time. People who HAD seats in that section had to move elsewhere in the rink

Yeah. I was part of it. Before the NC game, we all crowded outside the entrance of the corner section, and switched tickets with anyone who had a seat there. It wasn't like we were supposed to be sitting there... Before the UVM game, we took those seats by force measure.

Nope, after their game ends, they leave. All seats at the men's FF are sold and accounted for.

Re: The Frozen Four

For many years the NCAA issued 3 tix for these games with each game being a separate admission so you could watch game 1 then go out and eat at a local restaurant and return for game 2. Then they realized there was money to be made by not allowing you to leave and forcing you to eat at the rink where the NCAA could sell the food rights, so now all tix are sold as either a full package or the first 2 games as one then the finals as a separate.....I have never seen a SRO tix in 18 years or schools sharing any area except the area set for the bands and their equipment

Re: The Frozen Four

Can anyone tell me which sections are being given to the four schools?

If as in past two years , which i attended, school allotments in each corner near the goal lines, bands in each corner of the upper deck.

Re: The Frozen Four

According to a Grand Forks Herald article today, Blais was quite subdued in his responses to his current program at Omaha. Perhaps the reporter from Grand Forks was fishing for comparisons between his current program and UND, where he was wonderfully successful with two national championships. Blais is not someone to blow his horn. Or, he wasn't while at the University of North Dakota.

Dean Blais supplying bulletin board material here in the press in Omaha. These from tonight's pep rally/send-off of the team to Boston tonight:

Since he is the only coach at the FF that has won actual National Championships (plural) (and a World Championship, to boot) I guess he can pop off if he wants to, but, between this and his also saying that Massa "wants North Dakota bad" because McIntyre got NCHC Goalie of the Year, and Massa didn't, just adds fuel to the fire.

I sure hope Coach Blais knows or sees something here that has him confident enough to make remarks like this. I know this, I like it better than the standard canned cr*p that comes out of most coaches mouths in practically any and every other sport when their team is in a similar situation. A lot of coaches in this situation oddly seem to be scared of actually acknowledging that the goal here (pardon the pun) is to actually win the darn thing.

If this approach has our guys motivated and ready to walk over burning coals to get the job done in Boston, I'm all for it.

2nd edit:

Here is actual video of Coach Blais saying this at the pep rally tonight:

Re: The Frozen Four

This game really needs to start sooner if we're discussing which team has the most Minnesotans.
