Yes, it was impressive. And not taking anything away from them. But, it's a state school and one of the biggest things in the state. Not trying to sound condescending...it's a different lifestyle and they eat, sleep and breath college hockey 365 days/year. Totally different here. A private school (and please don't start with the 'you don't know what you're talking about stuff') that, although it maintains several athletic programs, greatly in part to Title IX, doesn't really emphasize sports, has a diverse, international diaspora and outside of its "core" of fans, doesn't get support from ANYONE else. BC, Maine and Lowell people were sitting all around me. NONE of them were cheering for BU, they were either neutral or cheering for ND. There is no league "pride" when it comes to BU. Most other fans hate us. They think we are arrogant and elitist. I said on this thread a week or so ago that all those people talking about the "home ice" advantage for BU didn't know what they were talking about. And I was right. But I'm not absolving us, either. But after 50 years of this, when is everyone going to get it through their head that it is just not high on the priorities list? Yes, we have other "distractions" here. Restaurants, culture, tons of colleges, movies, pro sports, etc etc etc. But, to me, NO EXCUSE why we couldn't get more than 3 or 4 thousand fans from a school three miles down the road. I have gone on this rant before. Everyone argues with me but YOU HAVE NO ARGUMENT. Do you have EYES? There were MORE ND fans there last night, and I don't care HOW great their fan base is, that's UNACCEPTABLE when they are coming 1500 miles and we are three miles away in the FROZEN FOUR in our own city. And to the BC fans that don't like it when we say "BU sucks." How about supporting us? Many of us support YOU when you're playing "out of region." I was in Albany when you beat ND and we were cheering (yes, Scarlet). It's demoralizing to go to a game and be outnumbered and outcheered, when almost the entire enrollment could have WALKED to the game. And I guarantee you the same thing will happen Saturday. BU against the world. The "excuse" will be this time, well, Providence hasn't been there in 30 years so we want to support the guys who never make it there. Yeah, sure. EVERYONE who is not a BU fan will be cheering for Providence and it will be like a Providence home game (well, maybe not, because nobody goes to their games). I'm sixty years old and I was jumping up and down at my seat when we scored, while other BU fans would sit on their hands and politely clap, maybe. If they felt like exerting themselves. My question is, why do you go in the first place? And I LOVED the cheerleaders - of course, we're too "sophisticated" in the East to have stuff like that. In fact, you can't have any enjoyment or express any emotion. I would make an "appeal" for all the BU fans to come out Saturday, but it won't matter. There won't be ONE more fan that we usually have. It's just the way it is, and I have to accept it. Well, I have. It's most of the others that can't or won't admit it.
