Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

One Vegas insider says over a billion dollars has been wagered on this game world-wide.

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

Like I said, the real difference between T2 and T3 is geography.

Geography may just amount to Europe vs Other at this point. Is the infrastructure gap between CONCACAF and CONMEBOL as wide as that between CONMEBOL and UEFA? < U18, absolutely. But > U18? At club level?

According to this:

Best / 10th / 50th / Confederation

2039 / 1862 / 1640 / UEFA
1681 / 1597 / 1499 / CONMEBOL
1576 / 1503 / 1350 / CONCACAF

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

RVP didn't practice today and is questionable for tomorrow because of stomach problems. (I'd be stunned if he didn't play)

The referee for today's match is the same Mexican referee who missed the Suarez bite in the Uruguay-Italy match.

Can you really blame the guy for missing it?

Re: The FIFA World Cup Thread (Spoilers Welcome)

I'm DVR-ing this game, but I'm paranoid that I'm going to find a way to spoil it before I get home.

If one of you could do me a favor and post the starting formations in the non-spoiler thread, so I don't feel tempted to try to find it elsewhere and accidentally spoil the score, I'd be appreciative.

OK, I'll post this reply there as well.

On paper it looks like both teams are going 4-5-1....

Brazil:

Cesar

Maicon - Luiz - Dante - Marcelo

Gustavo - Rosa - Hulk - Oscar - Barnard

Fred

For Germany, I'm a bit surprised, but

Neuer

Lahm - Boateng - Hummels - Howedes

Khedira - Schweinsteiger - Muller - Kroos - Ozil

Klose
