The definitive tournament speculation thread

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Final predictions:

ECAC East Champion: Norwich beat Castleton 2 weeks ago. I have to think they will do it again.

ECAC NE: Curry has been on a roll the last few weeks, I doubt this is going to change.

MCHA: Adrian is 21-3. Enough said.

MIAC: This one is tough. Both Hamline and St. Thomas could win it. Also Gustavus Adolphus could come in for an upset. I am going with the better team, Hamline.

NCHA: St. Norbert has been dominant. They should win with ease.

NESCAC: There are seriously like 6 teams that can win this one. Never bet against Middlebury in the post season, so I won't.

SUNYAC: I am tempted to give it to Plattsburgh especially if there goaltending is above par, and not just because I go there.. I think Geneseo is out matched. That being said I am going with Oswego.

Pool B. Who ever wins the ECAC W should win this. 4 teams are capable of winning the ECAC West. I am picking Neumann. (Sorry MASCAC, next year)

Pool C.
Elmira is 15-6-4 in the toughest league. They are in.

Plattsburgh. They have a wicked out of conference record. That should get them in. If they beat Geneseo its a lock.

Oswego/St. Norbert/Adrian/Hamline/Norwich One of these teams will lose the championship game. When they do, they will have their ticket punched anyway.

If none of the above teams lose, Castleton has the best record in the land. If they make it to the finals of the ECAC E, they have their tickets punched.

Drop the puck!

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Matt...Hope you keep some cold ones for the "Pirates" that will be visiting you !! JK !

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

in what is arguably the toughest league in DIII. I for one am glad we don't have to play them in the NCAA's, they should have nothing but pride in there season.

Don't get the ECAC West or NCHA fans started...

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Exactly. ECAC W is the toughest. The SUNYAC is a close second. NCHA is often, its not even close this year.

It's too bad this board has lost all its fire or I'd be grabbing a bag of popcorn to watch the fallout from this bit of clairvoyance. Ah, memories...

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Did anyone notice on ncaasports.com when they first posted the Regional Rankings for 2/22? At first, both regional rankings were available. In addition, before they took the page down, there was a link at the bottom of the page to a spreadsheet of all of the raw numbers - SOS, RNK....I wish I had thought to print them out.

Am I missing something?

Glad to see they are back up....they weren't available yesterday. Just the list of the rankings. I thought maybe they were posted in error originally...Is this the NCAA's way of clearing out the smoky room a little bit?
except the final ranking is never published. Gamesmanship runs deep.

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Is this according to the guys in the smoke filled room?

According to the guys who read the smoke signals emanating from the smoke filled room. The comparisons according to the criteria clearly favor the East Pool C candidates. Of course, one major upset and the picture can change drastically

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

SNC is in no matter what. As it currently stands the other two better win their respective tournaments.

I think the only two teams that can say they are in no matter what right now are Oswego and St. Norbert.

Elmira probably needs to win this weekend and then they are in no matter what.

I should have added: Though a St. Norbert loss makes it 7-4 which creates an interesting set of circumstances, of varying variety, dependent on who emerges from the MCHA.
