The definitive tournament speculation thread

Definition of Irony

I find it somewhat amusing and terribly ironic that St Norbert and the NCHA [who some say have conspired by refusing to schedule Adrian] are now being 'jobbed' by having to participate in the play-in game against the same team that they wouldn't schedule, and the team who is indirectly responsible for the West play-in 'travesty.'

If Adrian hadn't been the magical 7th MCHA team to qualify for the AQ, or were classified by the NCAA as an Eastern [or bi-regional] team and allowed to play-in at Elmira, then SNC would have gotten their bye.

No offense to the SNC faithful, but an Adrian win tonight would be the embodiment of poetic justice. Tonight should be a hoot!

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I'd be curious to know what the NCAA's travel plans are for Adrian should they win tonight vs SNC. I would expect them to stay the night in Wisconsin before busing back home. At best, they get home at 4pm on Thursday. Then get a practice in, get dinner, a nights sleep and then catch a flight Friday morning to Minneapolis?

I can pretty much guarantee that win or lose Adrian will get directly on the bus after the game. I expect they would take a flight that would land them in Minnesota in time for a skate Friday.

Would Adrian Fly out of Toledo (TOL) or Detroit (DTW)

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

Don't worry, odds are we'll get to do the Adrian dance again next year.

Josh,
This thread, like no other, draws interest from all points on the "DIII Hockey map" . While I don't always share your opinons, your insight for those of us trying to understand is informative and enlightening.

In spite of the many flaws in the process, once we're there, great hockey and a great Champion is pretty much guaranteed.

I thank you in particular, as well as your colleagues, and the cast of characters in the Fan Forum for this year's edition.

NorthernLite, I hope this isn't your sign-off post for the season. It gets somewhat slower, but we keep it going year round. We'll come up with something to talk about, even when it is sometimes light material.

I will be out of work for 3 weeks after surgery, so I should have some time to get things set up. Hopefully we can come up with a Selection Committee this year again, and not place everything on Webbs shoulders...

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

3 more (after this one)

On topic: This year we say the first tournament appearance by an MCHA team. Next year, could we see the first tournament victory? ;)

Re: The definitive tournament speculation thread

I figured it would be appropriate for me to lock down the thread I started several months ago. And the best way to do that?
