Re: The Dead Thread: Yep. Still Dead.

His daughter married Ed McCaffrey and his grandson is next year's Heisman winner, Christian McCaffrey.

Ed McCaffrey, owner of one of the better quotes in sports:

(on his hamstring injury) "I didn't know a white guy could run fast enough to pull a hamstring." :D

Always remember McCaffrey broke his leg in the Monday Night Football game the night before 9/11.

Also, I believe Shannon Sharpe said "If Ed was black, he'd get 3x the money he does now!" :D

I had no idea.

Bob and Ray were wonderful. RIP.

When i was very young, I never understood how truly funny they were. Fast forward a couple years and I started to get it. Hysterical at times and just flat out funny at others. RIP

My earliest memory of them is as Bert and Harry Piel.

Who had Piels? (And I remember that commercial, too)

I believe the Mets had Piels between Rheingold (ending around 1974) and Shaefer (beginning around 1979).

In researching I discovered that JPod is a rabid and knowledgeable Mets fan. I feel dirty.

Do you remember the ads on the subway to vote for the Rheingold Girl? Then you indeed getting up there in age.

No, but I didn't ride a subway until I was 18.

I remember: "My beer is Rheingold, the dry beer. Think of Rheingold whenever you buy beer."

And: "Piels' Real Draft, the kind of beer you first loved."

And of course: "Shaefer is the one beer to have when you're having more than one."

And: "If a gentleman gives a Tiparillo to a lady..."

And I remember the Avengers was on right before the Mets, so I always associate the end theme from the Avengers with excitement, and not just for Mrs. Peel.

I certainly remember them.

BTW, about 10 years ago, I noticed in subway cars that they had restarted the Miss Rheingold contest . Let's say, that the type of contestant had changed a bit. :)
