Re: The Dead thread - God sorts 'em out!

:( Still remember Saturday afternoons when they'd appear on ABC's Wide World of Sports (at least I think that was the vehicle) and my dad took us one year to see them at the Civic Center. We were maybe 10th row so far enough out to not get hit with confetti but close enough to really soak it all in.

btw we had a buddy growing up in the neighborhood who always wanted to be the outsider, so one year for Christmas we got him a Washington Generals poster. :D

I remember the Saturday morning cartoon ("Now here's Marques Haynes to show you how!"). In my lily white neighborhood the Trotters were probably the first black heroes I had.

Fortunately, none through your doors?
Haven't been to work in 6 days so hopefully no. My Auntie's dog died tho. Lil was her 'littermate' when they adopted her. He loved that dog. So sad.

As a kid watching the movie "Go Man Go", you almost had to have Marques Haynes as an idol. I am not sure how old I was when it finally dawned upon me that their games might have been, shall we say, a bit controlled and the outcome predictable. But for all those years, it made no difference as they were often the best entertainment on TV. BTW-I still feel Haynes was the best ball control dribbler ever.

I wish there was footage of when the Trotters actually played balls out for real in the 30's and 40's. From what I have heard there was an overlap period during which they were working in their gags and also playing competitively. That must have been something.

An article about a game in 1948 vs the Lakers.

Was just talking with my cousin the day after Christmas. He had recently seen Lemmy and stated he looked like death then. I figured he was a cockroach and could not be destroyed.

So did he.

A rare self-proclaimed member of the Kilo Klub who I believe. Though I suspect about half of them looked like girl Lemmies. Ew.

I once got a blowj-b during a gig. It was in the ’70s and this girl got onto the stage, pulled down my pants, and did her thing. I kept performing. I couldn’t stop the show. It wouldn’t have been professional. -- Ian Fraser Kilmister

Lemmy, what every little rocker out there wants to be when they grow up.
