Still spooks me out when Edmund Gwinn(alias Kris Kringle) puts that vial of formic acid under the kids nose and her reaction to it.

It Came from Beneath the Sea repeated almost exactly the same formula the very next year. The effect is not quite as good, although that movie features the wonderfully alluring Faith Domergue.

Too often these 50's horror/monster movies get lumped in with all the cheapskate B reel drive-in flypaper. Some of them are little works of art. The Thing has some of the best dialog in movie history.

Live Long and Prosper, Mr. Nimoy.

I wonder if Mr. Musk will give him a spaceman's burial?

and he was great as a heart surgeon whose ambition led him to murder on Columbo, though that was after the original Star Trek.

My local library has literally every Columbo DVD ever. I'm still working though them. Much like Sea Hunt, talk about a wealth of guest stars.

It's a shame about Nimoy. 83 is a pretty good life though.

He lived long and prospered. His last tweet was very poignant:

Leonard Nimoy @TheRealNimoy

A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP

That's beautiful. I wish I hadn't read that at a hockey game intermission. :(

Perhaps the most memorable double feature in my life: Faith Domergue in Cult of the Cobra paired with Harryhausen's Beast from 20,000 Fathoms.
