Saw t this in today's Boston Globe Hockey Notes

Former BU standout Herb Wakabayashi died on Monday in Japan. He was 70. Wakabayashi was a two-time All-American, in 1967-68 and 1968-69.

Ronnie Gilbert of the Weavers at 88 years of age. Members Lee Hays and Pete Seeger preceeded her in death, leaving only Fred Hellerman still with us.

Yep, that's interesting. Apparently about 3% of Iraqis are Christian.
The three percent number has probably shrunk significantly, as Christians have fled countries like Iraq and Syria in large numbers. Hussein generally didn't mess with the Christian minority in Iraq and they didn't make a fuss, so it's not surprising to see an occasional Christian in the administration there. I remember hearing about Aziz being a Christian awhile back. I know nothing about his personal faith, so can't say a thing about how substantive his beliefs were or not.

There used to be huge numbers of Non-Chalcedonian Christians in Syria, Egypt, Eritrea, and famously Armenia. Generally speaking it's been Monophysite Christians who have been their worst enemies, and the Muslims have left them alone (with some big exceptions: like Armenia). That all changed with the rise of Salafism -- the Islamic version of the fanatical fundamentalism that creates misery wherever it goes from Mecca to Mobile.

One of the interesting parts of Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years was the discussion of the effect of US pro-Israel policy on these Christians. Long story short: we fcked them over big time. So basically these guys have no friends anywhere.

Bury him in a cape. One of my favorite actors of all time. Thanks for all your work, Mr. Lee.
