The Dead Thread 2024

I never watched Dawson's Creek and wasn't the biggest fan of his but man, this made me so sad.
Jeesh, I figured that was right up your alley.

I started watching it on reruns on TNT or something back in the early 2000s when I was out of work, and then the last couple seasons as they aired. I admit, I'm a sucker for it, bought the blu-ray set.

Grams' line in the two hour finale, "I'll see you soon, child" was just heartbreaking. Room got awful dusty at that one.

Love it.

Remembrer this one?

Shortly after this, Rev Jackson came and gave a talk at Cornell. This was still the VHS era, so if you missed live TV, you missed it. When it came to Q&A time, a friend of mine got up to the mic with a copy of Green Eggs and Ham and said, "Rev Jackson, I missed your reading of Green Eggs and Ham, and I would really like to hear it. Would you indulge us?"

He did, and my friend still has the autographed copy.

Jesse Jackson taught me what charisma is. I was a deeply cynical graduate student when he came to speak to us in 1988. By the end of his speech I would have crawled over broken glass for him.

It was frightening. Charisma is a social emotional fact. I have never felt that out of rational control and I must say I did not like it.

Tom Noonan, probably best known for his roles in Robocop, and as the original Francis Dolarhyde, the Tooth Fairy, in the film Manhunter, the first of the Hannibal Lector movies.
