The Dead Thread 2024

Racist POS is obviously the most important but he is, among other things:

A habitual liar, especially about “injuries” suffered from other wrestlers (among the best being Undertaker “injuring” Hulks neck with a Tombstone Piledriver on a chair even though the video shows Hulk’s head was nowhere near the chair).

A union breaker (Jesse Ventura had the wrestlers on the brink of forming a union, Hulk found out and immediately ratted to Vince).

In true Dumpy fashion, kinda creepy about his daughter.
Hogan being the Union Buster is the one (besides the racism of course) is why he is a true POS. The amount of wrestlers that would still be alive if he hadn't pulled that BS is staggering. I think Ventura exaggerates how close they were, but it would have happened sooner or later. Vince would have been completely screwed...which would be better for everyone. The McMahon Family is one of the worst this country has ever produced.

BTW Tony S never tweets, he hates social media so him even commenting is weird. The fact that he put it like that tells you everything you need to know because Tony likes everyone.

Yeah Hulk was the ultimate selfish asshole, he never did anything that wasn’t in service to him. He busted the union because it was a threat to his place on the card.

I always feel bad for Tony because of the amount of BS he had to deal with in the last 18 months of WCW. Someone had to be the one selling that awful mess and unfortunately it was him. It’s what makes his AEW work so much more meaningful because he’s finally getting to enjoy wrestling again.

I have always thought of it as an event geared toward working class white men. However, I was sort of born with a silver spoon, so my perception may be off.

Working class yes, strictly white men no.

Wrestling has always been popular across racial lines, Mid-South especially did with Junkyard Dog, WCW had Ron Simmons and even white stars like Dusty Rhodes had appeal among different races.

TBF, if your knowledge of wrestling is the Vince McMahon ideal of WWE = wrestling I could understand that thought.

TBF that's really the only wrestling I am aware of anymore, so yes that is my bad.

But where do people see non-McMahon wrestling? Are there local regional circuits like the Olde Days?
There’s a new one called AEW, and it’s pretty cool. Openly anti-trump and still pulling good numbers. Run by Shahid and Tony Khan, who also own the Jacksonville Jaguars and Fulham FC.

I grew up during the heydays of the AWA and then followed the WWF when it started, but stopped watching I want to say around the time Triple-H came on the scene (mid-90's?) and never went back. I'll leave it at that. 🤣

So for a limited time only, WWE is donating proceeds from Hogan t-shirt sales to his family 😂. The ones who wanted nothing to do with him 😂😂. What a joke

Like state said there’s All Elite Wrestling or AEW. It’s owned by the Khan family of the Jaguars and Fulham and run mainly by Tony Khan. You can watch it on TBS and TNT or on HBO Max. AEW relies a lot more on long term storytelling than WWE so it can be a bit difficult to get into at first.

Handy and I already briefly mentioned the Men’s champion “Hangman” Adam Page, a former high school teacher and tobacco farmer “Anxious Millennial Cowboy”. There’s a lot to Hangman but he’s awesome.

The Women’s Champion is “Timeless” Toni Storm, a woman whose persona that of a Hollywood actress from the Golden era of Hollywood complete with the Transatlantic accent and all. She may honestly be the best thing in wrestling right now.

I’d joke I’m bad luck, but that’s a pretty myopic view. I’m now up to 8 friends or family who have lost a child. These children ranged in ages from 2 hours all the way up to 24 years old.

As I get ready for the most recent one (and goddamn is the trauma off the charts on this one) I realized that this is a reason why having kids, for me, was not something I craved. Would the love be worth it? Surely it would be.

But seeing the pain? Oh, the pain. You don’t have to be a parent to recognize that their pain is the deepest pain on earth.

I want nothing more than to never see another parent go through this.
