The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Since you obviously have all these issues with ESPN, why do you keep reading and watching it? Voluntarily subjecting yourself to the same thing repeatedly and then redundantly whining about it isn't really a commentary on ESPN...it's a commentary on you. No wonder its ratings are so high.

Actually I didn't watch the story on TV until later. I did see a thoughtful interview that had Jim Brown talk about this. I'll give them credit where it's due. I thought it was good.

I just get bothered when they seem to spend more time on this, the Simmonds incident, the cheap shots and other bad stuff than the dramatic hockey that's been played.

Haven't watched ESPN since the national championship game. Haven't watched SportsCenter in ages. Even PTI wore out its welcome last fall. However, it remains the predominant source of sports news (even if it steals from the true sources) so how they choose to cover (or not cover) a story is still important and bears watching - just not by me :p

That's about the same story for me. Find little use for it aside from college football and NFL games, and my default channels have become NHLN, NBC Sports and USN (or whatever it's called...625 on Directv). However, I really don't comprehend the point of complaining about ESPN repeatedly. It is what it is, and does what it does to make as much money as it can. For most of the USCHO crowd, that's not a good fit. As such, don't bother watching it and stop *****ing like some schoolgirl if it's so bad (generally speaking...not aimed at you.)

There are always plenty of other places to turn for things of higher interest. You know, like this for example.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Basically there is a writer for ESPN.com and no one knows if she really exists. She also seems to be part of a scheme to fraud people. It is kind of hilarious :)

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

To add to what I said...I give her and her partner credit...to be able to not only scam internet people out of money but get hired by ESPN as part of it (they now ended their freelance deal) takes talent. She was stupid though in that she let this get too big. It was only a matter of time before the house of cards collapsed and all the schemes were found out...especially since she was completely internet based.

Interesting read to say the least. Not surprised that ESPN got buffaloed with their slow change to talk/gossip instead of recaps/highlights.

Back to b**ching about ESPN for a moment... Went to look up something at ESPN3 then decided to look and see if any of the NCAA Hockey games were archived like in years past.

Seems they've wiped hockey completely off their ESPN3 site:

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

If you go to replay, then select all sports and "all" for time period, it's still on there.

They only archive back like 45-60 days now. Last year, I was able to watch college football games into the next summer until the new season was almost underway.

As an ESPN hater, this pleases me. Beadle to NBC.

The next shoe to drop will be Scott Van Pelt. I thought he'd be going to NBC, but with Beadle going there he might choose CBS for golf and college hoops. I really hope he doesn't sign up for another tour with the Mothership.

I'd love for Buccigross to get free from the Mothership. He'd awesome as the face of the NHL Network or NHL/College hockey on NBC Sports. I know he has to feel like he needs to get out of there.

I don't know, he's got a pretty sweet gig where he gets to post articles and tweet whatever he wants and gets an ESPN paycheck.

If he want more attention, then maybe; but I don't think he's comPlaining with the freedom he has.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Pacers win last night, and all Mike and Mike talk about for the ten minutes I put up with them is "How did the Heat lose?" and then talk about LeBron not having a ring with 3 MVP trophies.

What amazes me about this crap isn't the partiality of the reporting and commentary. It's the fact that there are millions of morons and Dan LeBatard wannabes who are just soaking this garbage up.

Re: The "Complain About ESPN" Thread

Gary Thorne out, Bucci in as the voice of the Frozen Four as part of a new 5 year deal Bucci signed with the mothership.

Meh. I love Bucci, admittedly his Miami homerism may have something to do with that, but he truly is just not a good play by play announcer.

And now Gary Thorne's only hockey PBP will be for the World Juniors :(.
