The Battle for the Cappo Cup, pt 1: NMU @ LSSU

Re: The Battle for the Cappo Cup, pt 1: NMU @ LSSU

I smell another split based on our history. Last years games were boring. I liked the play of Fred Cassani, I'm a little partial to the small players. He played well against the Cats last year, wish we had him. Hopefully Northern can put their past poor performances behind them when playing against weaker teams in the conference. Lake State appears to be much better than previous years. Nonetheless we can't always rely on our penalty kill to continually kill 5-7 penalties/game. Go Cats please do not lose these games or lose to Tech, it will kill our chance for NCAA bid!

I sincerely hope your team is counting their chickens before they're hatched as you seem to be, because if they are it and end up overlooking this weekend it will be a sorrow bus ride back to Marquette.

No one has been counting any chickens this year. Mojo's spirit is what makes Mojo Mojo.

Boston University is 4-8-3 right now. The fact they won the NCAA championship last year should not and does not have any effect on where they are ranked right now. They deserve to be ranked where they are because they have not done very well to start this year.

I never meant to imply that their national title did have any effect on their ranking, i was just using that title as another way to refer the team also known as "Boston University". Boston does have a bad record but has played 8 of their games against USCHO top 20 ranked opponents, and also have played a game a piece against Michigan and Vermont, the teams who are banging on the door of the rankings (21st & 22nd in the poll)....which is a tougher schedule than most of the nation has faced so far.

Everyone has their own opinion but i believe teams should be ranked based on how good they are, not how good their record is ( e.g. Central Michigan being ranked behind 12 teams who have more losses than they do in this week's Associated Press College Football poll) and I'm not saying i think BU is one of the top teams in the nation, but what I am saying is that i believe there are 10-12 teams above BU in the RPI rankings (that nmupiccdiva so graciously provided) that would have a worse record than BU does had they played the same schedule and that is why i see that system as being flawed.

Freddie is a fan favorite, he may not always get the goal or the assist but he is almost always the guy who made the "play behind the play" that enables good things to happen for our team. He never stops working and doesn't let his small stature slow him down, and thats why we love 'em:)

Hopefully more NMU fans will make the trek to the Sault this year. Hardly anyone came last December.

What is the Cappo Cup count now? How many times have LSSU won and how many have NMU won? I kinow NMU has won more and probably has a good lead. You guys really dominated us when Anzalone was coaching here.

I miss crazy Frank hahaha. Tough battle coming up and I wish I could make the trip.

What did Frank win in his second stint?

The affection from the NMU student section.

Although he broke my heart when he left behind the plastic blue horn we bought him. Had to bring it to him at the Taffy the following night. :D

I will admit.. I like the Taffy a bit better than Lawson Arena... but not by much..

Love the UP rivalry, wish Lake State and Northern had great teams like the early '90's! How did Lake State fare against Michigan? The February matchup against Northern will be the only series I'll be able to watch living in SE Michigan. Cassiani reminds of Michelutti when I was in school. Wish Walt would recruit smaller players like him. Sigmund had a lot of potenial but didn't see a lot of ice time last year. Nonetheless, I wish the game was televised by Detroit Fox, but they prefer to show many of the Michigan/Michigan State games. Go Cats!

The first game against UM the Lakers played like garbage and got spanked, the second game was much more competitive, but U of M still got the W.

I had a dream (or nightmare) that Anzalone coached Northern and brought them a NCAA championship. That would be a Laker fan's worst nightmare lol. Fire Kyle, hire Anzalone. You'll also enjoy him pulling goalies really early.

I would say scary dream......

Today, kick back enjoy the day and get a Pizza Hut pizza. Only wished we had beer???

I would think tomorrow, the Cats would try to get to the Soo since there is a winter storm brewing in your area. This series to me is scary...... These games are usually close and it seems to be the luck of the bounce or two. I would like to see the Cats focus on this Lake St. Team and try to work on consistent play or 60 FULL MINUTES OF HOCKEY!!!!!

LETS GO CATS!!!!

yea, I guess, but when you read 09DEC09 Mining Journal religiously, it really doesn't give you the big picture. 7.5" is good for drift busting, maybe........ :D

Hopefully, the northeast winds don't come to give you a one, two whack..... :D

Iraq is a cool 60 during the day. Kinda wish we could get whacked with a foot of snow to change the scenery a little.

I think each week I am going to wish for the CATS from Santa to win, win, win baby................ It would be nice to add some hardware too....

LETS GO CATS!!!!
