The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

This will be the first Beanpot in a while I won't be going to. It's not because I'm busy, I just feel like watching on TV for some reason and have no desire to go and deal with Boston rush hour on a Monday.

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

re: Manchester...I wouldn't worry about the initial sales right now. As we inch closer, I suspect UNH (and as of right now it would be BC there as well) and BC fans to buy lots of tickets.

Not to derail the beanpot thread, but Manchester always has a bump in sales right after the Maine game, and they also always have a run of sales in early March. Then, after the field is announced, they'll sell 200-300 tickets a day.

The casual fan doesn't often know the rule that because UNH is the host school, they automatically got to Manchester.

Oh, the "zzzzzz" post wasn't bored about the beanpot - I enjoy watching -- but this thread is so TAME this year!

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

Did everyone know that Northeastern was the Beanpot Team of the 80's... winning 4 of the Beanpot championships in that decade?

Shut up. I hate you. That's just like USCHO saying we will win it. You're just bringing up the past. You smell. We all hate you.

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

NU has to be considered the heavy favorite to win it this year. I may have to put some money on them in a "NU vs. the Field" parlay on this tournament.

7-1 over Harvard in the first round

10-0 over BC in the championship game.

Dude, that's ludicrous. No chance Harvard scores a goal. As I understand it, NU is already up 3-0 oin Harvard and the game hasn't even started yet. NU is THAT good.

May you all rot in hell.

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

A tad nervous about tonight. Probably shouldn't be as BC is 3-0 against BU and the game is at a neutral site on the big stage. Given BC's edge in experience, you'd think the BU players would be nervous--which I think they will be. How will they handle the pressure situation? We've seen BU beat BC in the Beanpot before after losing all three Hockey East meetings and we've seen inferior BU teams beat BC in the Pot as well. I expect BU to be jumpy, but also exhibit an us against the world mentality and leave it all on the ice. Will that be enough? As long as BC is ready to go, I don't think so.

In order for BU to win (barring a total lapse in ability by the Eagles), they need the following to happen:
- stay out of the box.
- Millan continue his recent play
- PP needs to find a way to convert

BU's best chance is if BC starts taking penalties, which they are prone to do.

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

For any of you Northeastern fans, you should you tube "Northeastern State of Mind." Great parody of the JayZ song.

You haven't seen BU's power play lately.:o

(Actually it looked better against Lowell last game, but then again that was against Lowell)

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, (that's not my Batman glass) waaayyy too much reasoned and logical points for this thread.

What Gentry said. We've been pining for Parker to start declining penalties, especially when playing BC. Death, taxes, BC shorties against BU.

Re: The 59th Annual Beanpot Tournament

Has anyone found an online stream yet for the games?

The place I watched last year does not have it mentioned yet.
