Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

collegehockeynews.com just posted their 1st, 2nd, and all-rookie teams

nyquist on the first team. biddefordian (are they biddefordians?, biddeforders?, lewistonians-by-the-sea?) and bc defenseman brian dumuloin made the all rookie team

Carl Sneep on the first team... as in a top two defenseman in the country... I am speechless.

From Rachel Lenzi: Maine AD Blake James planning to offer hockey coach Tim Whitehead a contract extension

Maybe he's having fun again, which in turn is translating into better coaching. Which in turn is allowing the players to live up to their potential. Man I sure wish they were playing this weekend. :(

Aint that the truth. It sux a wicked haahd wun.

Just don't make it seven years:eek: . I like the recruits, I like the Corkum hiring and I think we're past the worst of it. But who knows if the pressure had anything to do with it?

I understand that college coaches working in the last year of their contract can hurt recruiting/the program. I'd give him two or three years on top of next season with a University friendly buyout option after 2012.

You hit the nail on the head with the buyout clause.

Of course he plans to do so. The James', the Whiteheads, and the Trimpers are all good friends. Their wives and kids hang out together. I have seen them out multiple times together. James is an idiot who lacks objectivity.

I pray to God there is a buyout clause. It is very easy to say, "hey look at how this season ended", or "hey look at this season".

Fact of the matter is, this program is nowhere near where it was when Whitehead took over. And this year, while much improved, we got off to a lousy start, and we backed into home ice with the playoffs. The last four games Maine played in many ways saved the season.

The whole tenure under Whitehead needs to be considered, not just "what have you done for me lately."

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

And here is the article from today's BDN

http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/139825.html

Personally, I fail to see how finishing fourth in Hockey East is "overachieving". Oh, that is right, the previous two years we finished 8th and 9th.

All I want is an honest review of his performance, not just this season, or even the very end of this season.

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

No one should be shocked by this news. One season above .500 in the last 3 and that gets a contract extension. The future looks brighter depending on Nyquist and a goalie so I guess its based on that?

Re: The 3rd official 09-10 Maine season thread: Bubble-icious

Oh my....one decent season and Timmays contract is to get extended, just as I figured would happen. What a shockah ! :):D

As one poster on the BDN says, looks like we got ourselves a lifer.....it'll be harder to extract this guy than it is to pull a molar. Just hope and pray that Corkum stays after Kellen is done playing...I guess at the least, we have Corkie around for 4 years.

Spose Timmay will try to take credit for Nyquist winning the Hobey? :)
